A panel of experts carried out a series of blind taste tests on 12 extra virgin olive oils and the lowest priced olive oil, Aldi’s EVOO Extra Virgin Olive Oil gained second place. It outperformed brands such as Bertolli and Filippo Berio Special Selection, as well as olive oils from the big four supermarkets, Waitrose and M&S. Tony Baines, Managing Director of Buying, Aldi Stores UK, said: “We offer the lowest priced olive oil in the Which? taste test and yet our product has beaten the other brands on quality, aroma, balance and taste. Our olive oil is just one of Aldi’s many products that offer outstanding low prices, brilliant value and exceptional quality.” Napolina’s Olive Oil pipped Aldi to 1st place, coming top of the taste tests with a score of 67%. Aldi’s product came a close 2nd with a score of 60%.
