One of the region’s major employers is hoping to benefit from the ‘World Cup effect’ this summer.Greencore Grocery, which produces a range of cooking sauces, British pickles and British table sauces, is looking forward to increased sales via its partnership with premium discount retailer Aldi.The business is hoping to score a hit with a number of new products it will be launching in time for the tournament, which include dips, sauces and salsas. Originally founded as Fletcher’s Sauce Company in 1914 and acquired from Hazlewood Foods by the Greencore Group in 2002, Selby-based Greencore Grocery employs up to 600 people and has a multi-million pound turnover producing in excess of 200 million jars of condiments each year.Sarah Hepworth, Business Account Manager of Greencore Grocery said: “We will be launching a number of products into Aldi between now and the World Cup which we expect to be a success, as they are ideal to enjoy while watching the games at home with family and friends.“We’ve been supplying Aldi since 1992 and the business has gone from strength to strength.
