AN UPDATE FROM OUR CEO GILES HURLEY

Aldi CEO Giles Hurley has written to customers today. The full letter is below:

With just four weeks to go until Christmas, I am delighted to share that our stores are fully stocked with our best ever festive range of award winning food and drinks at the unbeatable prices you’ve come to expect from Aldi.

Everything you need to know about shopping with Aldi this Christmas can be found online at aldi.co.uk/christmas, including store opening hours and the dates when our amazing fresh seasonal products are available.

There’s something for everyone in our line up this year, from Specially Selected vegan pastry wreaths – hand made and filled with chestnut mushrooms, butternut squash and fruity stuffing – to our Specially Selected British Wagyu Joint and our hand finished free range British Chesham Bronze turkey, a traditional slow growing breed that’s dry aged for extra flavour and texture.

We hope you enjoy the superb quality of all our seasonal products and don’t just take our word for it – Aldi was recently awarded Christmas Retailer of the Year by the Quality Food Awards.

As the current national lockdown in England ends next week, the same comprehensive measures will continue to be in place at every Aldi store to keep you and our colleagues safe. As a reminder, or if you haven’t shopped with us recently, here’s what you can expect in store.

• All of our stores have a traffic light system at entrances to ensure a safe number of people can shop at any one time, whilst maintaining social distancing.

• We have protective screens at all 7,000 of our checkouts and all stores have sanitisation stations for customer use.

• There are clear signs and social distancing markers advising how to shop safely.

• We are encouraging payment by card or contactless when possible, with an increased contactless limit of £45.

The majority of our stores are open from 8am – 10pm every day (Sundays 10am – 4pm) and our amazing colleagues are on hand to help you shop safely and find everything you need in store.

For our vulnerable and elderly customers, every Monday to Saturday all our stores remain open 30 minutes prior to their usual opening times to ensure that you can shop as safely as possible. Please note, in England and Wales, this is browsing time only. In Scotland customers will be able to purchase straight away.

For all groups entitled to a Blue Light card, including NHS and social care workers, our priority access remains in place. These groups continue to have exclusive access to our stores 30 minutes before normal opening on Sundays in addition to priority access at all other times.

To help with social distancing, customers are encouraged to shop alone, where possible, and adhere to one person per trolley. We will of course allow customers to shop with others, should they have no alternative.

We are also continuing to increase the availability of our new Click and Collect service, and we have recently announced that over 200 additional stores will be offering this service by Christmas. Stores are being added weekly and you can visit groceries.aldi.co.uk to see if this new service is available in your area.

The availability of grocery home delivery via Deliveroo is also growing and has recently been extended to almost 130 stores – please check the Deliveroo app or visit aldi.co.uk/deliveroo to see if the service is available locally to you.

So as we prepare for Christmas, I hope that you, your friends and family are keeping safe and well, and we look forward to seeing you at Aldi over the coming weeks.

Best wishes,

Giles Hurley
CEO – Aldi UK and IRE
