ALDI LAUNCHES NATIONWIDE HUNT FOR CHIEF CHOCOLATE TASTING OFFICER

  • Supermarket Aldi is searching for Easter egg taste testers to sample its biggest range yet
  • Lucky recruits will receive FREE chocolate in exchange for reviews that will be shared across Aldi’s social channels, and will help form the 2022 Easter chocolate range

Supermarket Aldi has today published the UK’s sweetest opportunity, as it launches a nationwide search for the most chocolate obsessed group of people to join Aldi as ‘Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officers’.

Three ‘specially selected’ members of the British public will receive FREE chocolate in the form of Easter eggs, in exchange for tasting chocolate. The role will involve tasting, rating and reviewing a selection of Aldi’s range, which this year includes creations such as the blonde chocolate Specially Selected Exquisite Beehive Egg with honeycomb pieces, as well as the brand’s famous Giant Dragon Egg.

To land the cracking role all candidates need is a camera (a smart phone will do) as well as an infatuation for confectionary. Experimental taste buds and bucket loads of charisma will also help since the successful applicants will be tasked with creating video reviews of Aldi’s Easter egg range.

As well as advising the public ahead of important egg purchasing decisions this Easter, the review videos, which will be aired across Aldi’s social media channels, will also help inform Aldi’s chocolate buying team when planning for the supermarket’s 2022 Easter egg range.

To be considered for the role, budding chocolate connoisseurs must create a short audition video and share it via email to AldiEasterTastingOfficer@McCann.com, explaining why they should be chosen for the exciting position of Aldi’s Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer. Entrants should include eggs-amples of their favourite Aldi chocolate, as well any sweet tales that may help them be successful.

But, with Easter just around the corner, those wanting to take part will need to hop to it and enter their videos by the deadline of March 15th – there’s no eggs-cuse for tardiness! Successful applicants will receive their first products to sample from the 22nd March, and reviews will go live after the 29th March.

Easter has become a key date for Aldi and last year, the supermarket sold over 7 million Easter eggs. This year the supermarket announced it will be adding delightful innovations such as Milkshake, Beehive and Geo shaped eggs to its range, as well as a variety of free from and vegan options.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: “This year, we have an exciting opportunity for three trusty Easter egg tasters to join us, and pick their favourite products from our 2021 Easter range. Their feedback will also help our buying team create next years’ showstoppers, to ensure we’re giving our shoppers what they want.

“We’ve never before had such a wonderful variety of Easter egg shapes, colours, and flavour combinations. We want to hear from people of all ages who simply love chocolate and can help showcase our innovative range. If this sounds like eggs-actly what you’ve been looking for, be quick, the deadline for applications is March 15th.”

Each Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer will receive a selection ten Easter eggs, and will be asked to review five of them on camera.

How to enter:

  • Applicants should share a short video (approx. 1 minute), explaining why they should be appointed to the role of Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer via email to AldiEasterTastingOfficer@McCann.com.
  • Deadline for applicants is March 15th 2021, and successful applicants will be contacted by 19th March
  • Successful applicants will receive the Easter eggs by 22nd March
  • Each Tasting Officer will be required to film a review of each Easter egg by the 29th March
