ALDI’S FRESH BRITISH TURKEY CROWNS HIT SHELVES TODAY AND FOR EVERY TURKEY PURCHASED, £1 WILL BE PLEDGED TO HELP TACKLE FOOD POVERTY

Aldi pledges £1 for every fresh Christmas turkey purchased, to help fight food poverty across the UK

Christmas is officially here, and shoppers will be pleased to know they can start planning their festive food tables and purchase their fresh turkey centrepiece from as early as today.

Aldi’s delicious Fresh Large British Turkey Crown (£6.89/per kg) will be hitting the shelves on 3^rd December for shoppers to purchase and pop in the freezer ahead of Christmas day. This hassle-free British turkey crown is the perfect size for smaller families or those wanting a selection of different meats, and is easy to roast to perfection with all the delectable trimmings on the big day.

What is more, to help support those in need this Christmas, Aldi is pledging £1 to the Neighbourly Foundation for every one of its fresh whole turkeys and fresh turkey crowns purchased in the run-up to the big day.

The supermarket expects to raise over £400,000 to help fight food poverty with this initiative, as part of its mission to support the Neighbourly Foundation in helping to look after the health and happiness of communities across the UK.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “It’s great to be able to give shoppers the chance to get ahead for Christmas by offering our fresh turkeys earlier than normal. However, we know that for many, food poverty is a stark reality during these difficult times. That’s why we’re trying to support the communities in which we operate by providing a £1 donation for every fresh turkey we sell, in a bid to help tackle the issue of hunger.”

Steve Butterworth, Neighbourly CEO said: “We are delighted to be working with Aldi in helping them to support communities local to all of their stores across the UK. Their food surplus programme has been going from strength to strength over the past two years, and has provided over 7 million meals to people affected by the pandemic since March alone. Sadly, local causes and the people they support are facing a difficult winter, and this new scheme to help tackle poverty through donations to the Neighbourly Foundation will make a huge difference.”
