Aldi strikes gold at International Wine Challenge Supermarket’s own-label range wins big at wine industry ‘Oscars’

Supermarket Aldi is once again toasting victory for its wine range, having collected an impressive 27 accolades at the prestigious International Wine Challenge, including TWO GOLD and eight silver medals.
 
The International Wine Challenge, one of the world’s most respected drinks competitions, pits the very best wines from around the globe against each other in a series of rigorous blind taste tests. 27 of Aldi’s wines emerged triumphant, with the retailer adding two coveted gold medals to its trophy cabinet, for its The Exquisite Collection Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc (£7.99) and its boutique, small parcel Lot 14 Minervois La Liviniere (£9.99).
 
Aldi’s premium tier, own-label wine range, The Exquisite Collection, was the retailer’s star performer - taking home 19 medals in total including Silver for both The Exquisite Collection Cotes de Provence Rose (£5.99) and The Exquisite Collection Touraine Sauvignon Blanc (£5.29).

The latest announcement takes Aldi’s medal count to 33 for its Beers, wines and spirits range in 2016 alone. In February the supermarket scooped a trio of accolades at the Drinks Retailing Awards as it was was crowned ‘Supermarket of the Year’, ‘Multiple Wine Retailer of the Year’ and awarded ‘Drinks Buying Team of the Year’.
 
In January Aldi began capitalising on its status as one of the UK’s favourite places to buy wine with the launch of a new online shopping service, www.aldi.co.uk, allowing consumers to purchase award-winning, great value wines at the click of a button.
