Aldi ‘Beefs Up’ Premium Steak Range
30 Sep 2016

Discount supermarket Aldi is relaunching its entire range of top tier beef and replacing it with premium Aberdeen Angus, which will be matured for 30 days using Himalayan Salt to offer customers the most irresistibly flavoursome beef at prices that are equally irresistible. With prices starting from £3.79, the range is set to launch in stores nationwide from 28th September.

The supermarket, which sells over half a million British beef steaks every week, will be introducing four new premium products to its 100% British beef range, from a Specially Selected Dry Aged Aberdeen Angus Sirloin Steak (£4.49, 227g) matured to perfection for 30 days, to a succulent Specially Selected Aberdeen Angus Fillet Steak (£4.99, 170g).  The Aberdeen Angus breed is renowned for producing the best beef in the world and customers will be able to purchase the steaks all year round for up to 40 per cent less than competitor equivalents.*

Often seen on the menu of high end restaurants or steakhouses, the Aberdeen Angus steaks* are dry aged using Himalayan Salt and matured for 30 days, a process that gives improved tenderness and flavour that can only be produced by dry ageing beef on the bone.

To further enhance the flavour, Aldi installed Himalayan Salt bricks into the dry ageing chambers to help draw moisture out of the air and by doing so helped to intensify the flavour of the meat even more. The salt purifies the air within the chambers whilst Aldi’s Aberdeen Angus Beef matures.

With new research commissioned by Aldi**, to launch their Everyday Amazing campaign, showing that 30% of the UK now dine on steak fortnightly,  the range is sure to be a winner amongst customers.

Tony Baines, Joint Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi, said: “At Aldi we are proud to offer customers the finest quality products at everyday low prices.  The introduction of the Aberdeen Angus Steak range continues this commitment, as well as our dedication to support UK farms through the sourcing of local produce.

“Following the success of previous premium produce, including the Wagyu steak range, we aim to answer our customers’ demands for high quality, excellent value, British beef.”
