You'll find no 'impastas' with Aldi's Authentic Italian Specialbuys

Italy is known as one of the most romantic countries in the world, being host to dreamy getaways including Rome, Venice, Lake Como, Verona and Florence, to name a few. But there is one thing more famous about Italy than its romantic getaways and that’s the delectable dishes you can hope to eat when you arrive there.
With Valentine’s just around the corner, Aldi has a new range of Specialbuy products available in store from 12th February, so you can cook your way to your loved ones heart, without leaving the country!
For starters you can enjoy a Mini Bruschetta (£1.49) paired with Specially Selected Dipping Oils (£1.29) or Balsamic Glaze (£1.29) and finished with Specially Selected Piccolo Tomatoes (£1.59) and Basil (69p), for the true restaurant experience. On the side Seafood Antipasti (£3.99) and Italian Salami (£1.99) make the perfect starters to whet your appetite.
For the main event, go gourmet with Specially Selected Gourmet Pasta (99p) or Gourmet Egg Pasta (£1.39) mixed with Pour Over Pasta Sauces (99p), if you want to accompany your sauces then Chestnut Mushrooms and Echalion Shallots are on Super 6 for just 59p each to create a marvelous main course.
Spice up all of your dishes with the Italian Spice Mill (99p) which can be sprinkled over British Pork Loin Medallions (£1.99) to add extra delicious flavours to your meal.
To accompany your meal why not try a bottle of Cococciola (£4.49), with its fresh and fruity fusion of apple, lemon and apricot flavours it can be perfectly paired with any seafood dishes such as Scottish Mussels (£1.25).

Italian Bake
This rustic Mediterranean classic is a deliciously hearty meal choice for the family.

Serves: 4 people
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes

2 x packs British Pork Loin Medallions
1 x 400g can Chickpeas
3 x sticks Celery – approx 300g
1 x bunch Spring Onions
2 x teaspoons Cucina Tomato Purée
1 x teaspoon Cucina Green Pesto
1 x teaspoon Stonemill Paprika
50g drained Solesta Black Pitted Olives
1 x Quixo Chicken Stock Cube
300ml Boiling Water
1 x Sunnyhills Ready to Bake Ciabatta
1 x Iceberg Lettuce
300g Cherry Tomatoes
½ Cucumber
A little Solesta Olive Oil

Preheat the oven to 200˚C/400˚F/Gas Mark 7
In a large frying pan sauté the pork medallions on both sides until browned. Transfer to a shallow ovenproof dish.
Trim the celery and spring onions and chop into small pieces.
Fry them in the same pan with a little more oil until just coloured. Add the pesto, tomato purée, olives, crumbled stock cube, paprika and the drained chickpeas. Pour over the boiling water, season with some black pepper and bring to the boil stirring often.
Pour this over the pork medallions.
Cover with some foil and bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
10 minutes before the end of the cooking time – put the ciabatta loaf in to cook.
Meanwhile – chop the tomatoes in half, peel and slice the cucumber and shred the lettuce toss them together and serve alongside the pork and bread.
Spaghetti Carbonara
This classic Italian pasta dish is perfect for both lunch and dinner.

Serves: 4 people
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes

500g Spaghetti
400g pack Smoked Back Bacon Rashers, chopped
2 tbsp Olive Oil
300g tin Sliced Mushrooms, drained
1 tsp Dried Parsley
1 tsp Hot English Mustard
75ml Double Cream
50g Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese, grated
1 tbsp Malt Vinegar
4 Medium Eggs

Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil, season with salt and add the spaghetti and cook as per pack instructions.
Meanwhile to make the sauce fry the bacon in a large frying pan in 1 tbsp olive oil until just cooked, (approx. 3 minutes).
Then add the mushrooms and warm through, (approx. 2 minutes).
Stir in the parsley, mustard, a pinch of black pepper and the double cream.
When the spaghetti is cooked, drain and mix with the sauce and parmesan cheese.
In a medium saucepan boil some water, add the vinegar and break the eggs in the boiling water and cook for about 2 minutes, until the egg white is firm.
Serve a portion of the spaghetti with a poached egg on top.
Italian Sausage Rice Bake
Succulent sausages with a Mediterranean twist.

Serves: 4 people
Prep time: 25 minutes

400g Specially Selected Premium Pork and Herb Sausages
300g Bilash Long Grain Rice
3 pack Mixed Peppers
350g Mushrooms
450g Large Vine Tomatoes
440g Cucina Lasagne Sauce
100g Everyday Essentials Grated Cheddar Cheese
Solesta Mild Olive Oil
Ground Black Pepper

Preheat the oven to 200oC/400oF/Gas Mark 6.
Cook the rice as instructions on the pack.
Meanwhile chop the sausages into 4 pieces.
In a large frying pan or wok, brown the sausage pieces in a little olive oil drain and transfer to a rectangular baking dish.
Chop the peppers into small chunks - discard the stalk and any seeds and white pith, add these to the sausages in the dish.
Wipe the mushrooms with a damp cloth, cut in half then slice them.
Gently saute them with a little olive oil in the frying pan or wok, and then add to the dish.
Put the cooked rice in the dish with the other ingredients, season with some black pepper and mix well, pour over the lasagne sauce.
Slice the tomatoes thinly and place on top of the rice mixture in the dish.
Sprinkle over the grated cheese, put into the oven and cook for 30 minutes - until golden and piping hot - then serve.
Italian Puff Pastry Tarts
Tasty Italian pastry treats. Ideal for starters, sharing and snacking.

Serves: 4 people
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes

1 packet Ready Rolled Greenvale Puff Pastry
375g Delikata Black Pitted Olives
230g Cheese Cubes in Oil
200g Cucina Green Pesto
40g Cucina Antipasti
280g Grilled Peppers 

Pre-heat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6.
Unroll the pastry and divide into 4 equal slices.
Put them onto a large baking sheet.
With a sharp knife, score a 2cm border around the edge of each slice.
Spread the pesto over the pastry up to the border on all 4 slices.
Drain the peppers and cut into slices, divide them between the slices.
Drain the cheese and divide the cubes and bits of pepper between the slices.
Put 6 black olives on each slice.
Brush a little milk onto the pastry border, bake for 15-20 minutes until risen and browned.
Goat's Cheese & Parma Ham Pizza
Classic Italian-style pizza - crispy Parma ham with soft goat's cheese and fresh basil leaves.

Serves: 1 person
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes

Everyday Essentials Cheese and Tomato Pizza (265g)
50g Herbed Goats’ Cheese
3 slices Specially Selected Parma Ham
1 Vine Tomato
2 tsp Specially Selected Pesto Rosso
8 Cucina Pitted Black Olives
15g Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese
Fresh Basil Leaves

Pre heat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6.
Take the pizza out of its packaging and put on a baking or pizza tray.
Thinly slice the tomato and spread the slices over the pizza.
Crumble the goat's cheese over the top then tear the Parma ham and place on the pizza.
Drizzle over the pesto and scatter over the olives.
Cook for about 8-10 mins until crisp and golden.
Finely grate the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
Serve the pizza sprinkled with the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and scatter over some fresh basil leaves.
