Aldi launches giant box of British cherries for a fraction of the price of other retailers
21 Jul 2017

Discount supermarket, Aldi, launches a giant 1kg box of British cherries - costing just £3.79. Brimming full of the best of British seasonal fruit, the box celebrates the current bumper British cherry crop. Packaged with a Union Jack design, the cherries will be in store from Thursday 20th July.

Demand for cherries has grown in recent years, with the fruit becoming the fastest growing sub-category in the stone fruit market*. Following the recent sunny weather, Aldi is taking additional volume from Berry Gardens based in Tonbridge to offer this luscious fruit at an unbeatable price. At just £3.79 for 1kg, the box is more than 20% cheaper than other retailers.

Tony Baines, Joint Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi UK, said: “As the Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year, we are excited to launch a 1kg box of fresh British cherries at a market-leading price. It is part of our ongoing commitment to make quality, British fresh produce affordable and available for all. We’re also delighted that we can further support homegrown farmers, who are enjoying a fantastic crop this summer.”

Cherries are packed with powerful nutrients, such as antioxidants and melatonin, that help relieve exercise-induced inflammation and regulate sleep patterns. Check out Aldi’s very own Cherry and Almond Cakes recipe and treat your family to a delicious delight this summer!
