DISCOVER ALDI’S WINE FESTIVAL

This February, Aldi will be launching 12 new and exciting wines in store and online as part of its Wine Festival collection. 
 
The range has been carefully curated by Aldi’s expert wine buying team, and brings together a collection of ‘strangely familiar’ wines including ‘Spanish’ grapes from Australia, a Chardonnay from Transylvania, and the Zibibbo grape from Sicily.
 
The range will be available in store and at www.aldi.co.uk/c/wines from 1st February and is priced from £4.99 - £9.99.
 
 
REDS
 
Odd Lot 2015 (£9.99, 75cl)
Available in stores and online from 1st February nationwide
A bold, rich blend of petit sirah and petit verdot grapes, this red is deliciously daring and is sure to make a statement. Originating from the Monterey County in California, it’s the perfect bottle to wow guests at a dinner party.
 
Australian Shiraz-Tempranillo 2016 (£6.99, 75cl)
Available in stores and online from 1st February nationwide
An Australian wine with a Spanish twist - inspired by the colourful laneways of Spain, this Australian Shiraz-Tempranillo is bold, rich and fully charged. Made to be enjoyed in the sunshine, sharing a plate of Tapas with friends.
 
Don Tomas Argentinian Syrah 2016 (£7.99, 75cl)
Available in stores and online from 1st February nationwide
Red wine connoisseurs can enjoy a glass of this Argentinian tipple as an after dinner treat. With deep flavours of fig and blackcurrant, its rich blend is combined with a sweet vanilla spice.
 
Earth’s Essence Shiraz 2017 (£6.99, 75cl)
Available in stores and online from 1st February nationwide
Unlike your usual bottles of wine, no sulphites have been used in this unique wine. Instead, the delicious fruit has been preserved using the natural properties of rooibos and honey bush. Resulting in a juicy looking, spicy tasting Shiraz - made in an all-natural way.
 
Quisco Chilean Malbec 2016 (£6.99, 75cl)

This sumptuous red originates from the Los Catus Vineyard in the heart of the Colchagua Valley in Chile. Deep and spicy, this satisfying tipple is can be enjoyed alongside a hearty roast dinner.
 
 
WHITES
 
Noctilo Transylvanian Chardonnay 2017 (£4.99, 75cl)

Chardonnay lovers are sure to enjoy this Transylvanian tipple. Rich and luscious, its melon and peach notes are deliciously refreshing, with a creamy vanilla finish to round things off.
 
Zibibbo 2016 (£5.99, 75cl)

Hailing from Sicily, this crisp white wine is fabulously fruity. With apricot and orange blossoms, it’s a refreshing wine which is best enjoyed as a relaxing aperitif in the evening.

Terre de Brume Costieres de Nimes Blanc 2017 (£5.79, 75cl)

You’ve tasted the red, now try the white! Less common that the red, this wine from the south of France, is the perfect accompaniment to an indulgent plate of fish and chips.
 
Los Gansos Chilean Gewurztraminer 2017 (£6.99, 75cl)
Available in stores and online from 1st February nationwide
Vibrant and fruity, this white is particularly expressive with sweet flavours of lychee and stone fruits. Gather friends together and enjoy a glass with a signature Chinese or Indian dish.
 
Cococciola 2016 (£4.99, 75cl)

A rare find in the UK, Cococciola hails from the Italian region of Abruzzo. Clean and fresh with hints of apple and apricot, it has a zingy acidity which is incredibly moreish. Say ‘Saluti’ and enjoy with a delectable seafood dish.
 
White Rioja 2016 (£5.79, 75cl)

Rioja is red, right? Not always! This one is made from the unusual white form of the red Tempranillo grape. If you’re a fan of Rioja red wine, but fancy a white, try this delicious dry and fruit-laden version instead.

South African Pinot Grigio 2017 (£5.99, 75cl)
Available in stores and online from 1st February nationwide
Known as ‘The Grape White’, the adventurousness of this quirky pinot grigio is inspired by the great white sharks that brave the icy waters in pursuit of fun on the coast of False Bay in South Africa’s Western Cape. This elegant white wine has subtle lemon and peach notes, with a crunchy and fresh acidity to awaken the senses.

  • Aldi is the highest ranked supermarket in the Institute of Customer Services’ UK Customer Satisfaction Index 2017.
  • Aldi launched its eCommerce platform in January 2016, selling a range of high quality wines and Specialbuys – receiving approximately over 11,000 orders per week.
  • Aldi is the official supermarket partner of Team GB, and has extended this commitment to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
  • Aldi is the lowest priced supermarket in the UK and 15.2% cheaper than its nearest competitor (The Grocer 33, published 24th August 2017).
  • In 2017, for the fourth consecutive year Aldi was ranked the best-performing supermarket for compliance with the Groceries Supply Code of Practice, underlining its commitment to maintaining fair, predictable and sustainable prices within its supply chain.
  • Research from the Centre for economics and business research (Cebr) showed that the value of Aldi’s relationships with UK suppliers will increase by £2.2bn during the next five years to £6.7bn in 2022. Additionally, in 2016 Aldi supported 146,000 direct and indirect jobs in the UK and this figure is set to rise to 205,000 by 2022.
