Aldi has taken home the prestigious Grocer of the Year trophy at the Grocer Gold Awards 2018 – marking the supermarket’s fifth triumph in the category since 2009. Beating stiff competition from across the grocery sector, this accolade reflects the positive impact that Aldi continues to have in the UK.
Aldi’s impressive win is recognition of the supermarket’s longstanding commitment to delivering the highest quality products at unbeatable prices. And, it’s not just shoppers who benefit from Aldi’s commitment to be the best; Aldi also works to support British farmers and growers by championing British quality across its entire range, whilst many of the products from further afield have been sustainably sourced and fairly traded.
Aldi is the UK’s fifth largest supermarket with over 750 stores, over 30,000 employees and is attracting hundreds of thousands of new customers every year with its award-winning range of exclusive brands. The company has more than doubled its market share since 2010 and has a 7.3% share of the market (Kantar Worldpanel data).
Giles Hurley, CEO - UK and IRE at Aldi, said: “It’s a real honour to be named Grocer of the Year once again at the 2018 Grocer Gold Awards. This recognition provides consumers with the assurance that Aldi really is the best supermarket in Britain.
“We remain dedicated to offering our customers the highest quality products at everyday low prices, and as we continue to open new stores in 2018, we are confident that more and more people throughout the UK will choose to come to us for their full weekly shop.”
The Grocer Gold Awards celebrates and recognises the very best standards in grocery retail, and rewards only the highest levels of service, initiative and commitment in the FMCG sector.
