ORANGE THURSDAY IS BACK! AUCTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS AS ALDI RELEASES 10 LIMITED EDITION TOYS TO RAISE MONEY FOR TEENAGE CANCER TRUST
14 Dec 2018

  • 10 new-look limited edition Kevin & Katies to be auctioned on eBay at 5pm on Thursday 6th December
Following the launch of its sell-out cuddly plush toy range on ‘Orange Thursday’ last month, Aldi is auctioning ten limited-edition Kevin and Katie plush toys in a bid to raise even more money for Teenage Cancer Trust.
The special editions of the nation’s favourite cuddly root vegetables don festive outfits and will be auctioned through an official eBay partnership from 5pm on Thursday 6th December. Fans will have the chance to bid over ten days and all proceeds will go to charity.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK comments: “Kevin and his family have built up a pretty big fan base and demand for the toys has grown as a result each year.  We are thrilled to partner with eBay on this initiative and are rooting for Kevin fans across the nation to help us raise money for this fantastic cause. This will help take us one step closer to reaching our £5million fundraising target for Teenage Cancer Trust , to help ensure that no young person faces cancer alone.”
The auction is expected to be of huge interest, as eBay reveals searches for Aldi’s must-have plush toys on the online auction house took place once every 1.5 seconds the day the toys first appeared in stores. What’s more, on Sunday 25th November, ‘Kevin the Carrot’ was the second most searched term on the entire website.
Rob Hattrell, Vice President of eBay UK said: “We are really proud that eBay for Charity has helped raise over £350,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust since 2011. Partnering with Aldi to sell official Kevin the Carrot limited edition toys is a fantastic way to raise even more for this vital cause, and I’d urge as many Kevin fans as possible to take part in Thursday’s auction.”
