HOW LOW CAN YOU GO? • Aldi launches lowest calorie Prosecco on UK supermarket shelves • Drinkers can enjoy a glass of fizz with just 63 calories per glass
17 Jan 2019

As shoppers across the nation are getting into shape for the New Year, supermarket Aldi has answered the prayers of health-conscious fizz-lovers with the launch of a low-calorie Prosecco. The La Gioiosa Colleziona Oro Prosecco (£8.99), contains just 63 calories per glass – which is a saving of 120 calories per bottle compared to normal Prosecco! Available in stores nationwide and online now, the tipple is a drier style of the Italian sparkling wine, containing half the amount of sugar as an average bottle – making it the lowest calorie Prosecco available on UK supermarket shelves. The latest launch follows a bumper Christmas of sales for Aldi’s award-winning wine range, which saw 17m bottles of wine, Champagne and Prosecco sold during December. Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, comments: “We know that our shoppers are passionate about their Prosecco, having seen sales increase for fizz year on year, but also recognise that the trend for lower-calorie drinks is becoming increasingly popular. “This latest launch of our low-calorie Prosecco demonstrates our commitment to catering to all customers tastes and lifestyles, with a fantastic quality product that is perfect for those looking to lead a balanced lifestyle, without cutting out treats altogether.” Health and wellbeing conscious shoppers will also be able to get their hands on a variety of new products at Aldi this January, including a range of brand new half bottles and Aldi’s low alcohol Featherweight wines (£2.99). For those partaking in Dry January, the supermarket’s non-alcoholic Zero Point Zero Brut and Rosé (£2.49) are also available now.
