Supermarket Aldi has been crowned ‘Best Supermarket’ at the People’s Choice Wine Awards, announced at a glitzy awards ceremony last night.
Now in its second year, the People’s Choice Wine Awards asks wine enthusiasts to vote for their most loved supermarket, taking into account value for money and quality of products.
Aldi pipped rivals Waitrose, Morrisons and Booths to the title; a testament to its excellent range, which has gone from strength to strength over the past year. Pioneers of innovation, last year Aldi launched more new wines than ever before, as demand for its quality offering continues to grow.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “We’re delighted to have been recognised by not just wine experts, but by consumers too for the quality of our wine range.
“At Aldi, we like to keep things simple. We have a concise range of wines on offer, meaning that each bottle, which is bought specifically for the UK market, is excellent quality and is sold at the best possible price – truly earning its place on our shelves.”
