TOAST OF THE TOWN – ALDI’S AWARD-WINNING CHAMPAGNE TAKES THE CROWN

  • Aldi’s own-label Champagne wins Silver at international drinks competition, alongside Laurent-Perrier which costs nearly four times the price
  • Bottle ranked alongside famous brands including Lanson and Laurent-Perrier
  • The win rounds off a highly successful year, with Aldi winning a total of 277 awards in 2019

 
London, 29th November 2019 – Supermarket Aldi is making a splash in the world of wine and spirits after winning a whopping total of 277 awards in 2019.
Yesterday saw Aldi’s bestselling Veuve Monsigny Champagne (£12.49) take home a coveted Silver medal at the 2019 Drinks Business Champagne Masters. At the renowned drinks competition judged by Masters of Wine, the Veuve Monsigny was commended for its excellent taste and pop-ular price. It was awarded the same medal as Lanson Black Label and Laurent-Perrier, which costs nearly four times the price of Aldi’s bubbly!
The celebrated Champagne is produced by the world-renowed, Philizot & Fils, who have enjoyed a fantastic relationship with Aldi for over eight years and consistently brings quality Champagne to the shelves of the UK’s “favourite supermarket and wine retailer“[1]. A complex yet elegant blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, the Veuve Monsigny Champagne is carefully aged in cellars for 48 months to form its unique taste, with delectible notes of ripe apples and soft red fruits.
 
Supermarket Aldi also tickled the taste buds of wine experts this month taking home an astonishing 57 accolades at the 2020 International Wine Challenge (IWC – Tranche 1). Aldi’s premium ran0ge of CLASSIC ICON wines were among the winners. The Artisan Tasmanian Chardonnay (£16.99) and Tasmanian Terra Verde Pinot Noir (£10.99) each scooped the coveted Gold medal, showcasing the amazing quality of the premium collection of wines from the top regions around the world.
