With the summer holidays in full swing, families and children are being offered support to stay active and healthy from supermarket Aldi, with Team GB holiday kits and free food vouchers.
In partnership with Team GB, Aldi has launched a free of charge Team GB booklet, which includes games, colouring and cooking activities, as well as arts and crafts to keep children entertained during the summer holidays. The Team GB booklets are available to download online for free, to ensure that all families have access to staying active and healthy during the summer months.
Aldi has gone one step further by supporting hundreds of families across the UK who are missing out on school meals by also providing free food vouchers, along with the Team GB booklet, and further activities to entertain children. The kits will be distributed to 10 charities across the UK and the vouchers will cover costs for ingredients to create healthy, family-friendly recipes, which all cost less than £5.
Fritz Walleczek, Managing Director of Corporate Responsibility at Aldi UK, said: “To help families across the UK, we have worked with our charity partner, Neighbourly and Team GB to create Holiday Kits that are designed to provide kids with something fun to do at home, as well as food vouchers and recipes to help out with the cost of a weekly shop.”
Aldi has already inspired more than 1.6 million schoolchildren to learn more about the benefits of cooking fresh, healthy food via its Get set to Eat Fresh initiative, and has supported schools and parents during the coronavirus pandemic with online activities for kids and cereal donations to school breakfast clubs.
The recipes within the Holiday Kits are all under £5 and include fresh fruit and vegetables to help families get their 5-a-day. Parents and children alike can enjoy a filling Tuna Pasta Bake, food for fuel with a Sausage Tray Bake or a tasty Vegetable Cassarole.
All the budget recipes can be found online – https://www.aldi.co.uk/c/recipes, and are quick, easy and cost effective.

Aldi has reported bumper bubbly sales so far this Summer thanks to soaring temperatures and Jubilee celebrations. The supermarket’s best-selling Castellore Prosecco Spumante DOC (£6.25, 75cl) saw its highest day of sales EVER in June, with an incredible one bottle flying off the shelf every second!
Aldi’s Specialbuys Summer Sale has just got even better with more products added, and now you can even shop the sale from your local middle aisle. Just popping in for a loaf of bread? Now you can also take bargain trampolines, tents and garden must-haves to the check out and make the most of savings with up to 50% off. Bargain hunters will need to be quick though, as with all Specialbuys once they’re gone, they’re gone.
