    best place to buy spirits
  • Thousands of shoppers voted for Aldi in the People’s Choice Spirits Awards – the results of which were announced in a ceremony last night
  • The news comes as Aldi launches a brand-new collection of Valentine’s Day-themed spirits

Aldi is feeling the love after being crowned ‘Best Spirits Supermarket 2022’ at the glitzy People’s Choice Drinks Awards last night.

The People’s Choice Awards asks spirits enthusiasts to vote for their most loved supermarket, taking into account value for money and quality of products. Aldi pipped rivals Waitrose and Booths to the title. It is perhaps not a surprise, when Aldi’s spirits have proved to be a shopper favourite in recent years, with sales increasing +19% over the past two years. Aldi had a successful Christmas within spirits and exciting launches included a brand-new Japanese Whisky, Haysmith’s Gin Advent Calendar and innovative Cream Liqueurs that proved a massive hit with shoppers.

The news comes as Aldi’s Valentine’s-themed range hits shelves. The new line-up includes a limited-edition red velvet version of one of Aldi’s most popular spirits ranges – Ballycastle. Shoppers are likely to fall head over heels for the Red Velvet Cream Liqueur (£6.99, 70cl), a luxurious blend of alcohol, double cream and red velvet cake flavours. Available in store now.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “Winning any award is a pleasure, but it’s an even greater privilege when it’s been voted for by the people that matter most to us – shoppers. We’re delighted that the quality and innovation of our range is helping us to deliver what customers want, and all at a fantastic price.

“Our customers have told us they want fun innovative flavoured spirits alongside our world-class core range and we’re excited to see the reaction to what we think is our most incredible spirits range yet – starting with our new Valentine’s Day lines.”

Any customers that fancy putting the spirits range to the test themselves, can head to their nearest Aldi store now.
