‘MALIBU’ KEVIN IS DRIVING HOME FOR JUNEMAS

• The fans spoke and Aldi listened. Kevin the Carrot returns to celebrate Junemas 
• A limited-edition of the supermarket’s beloved icon drops this week, available in a new ‘Malibu Kevin’ design with all proceeds going to Teenage Cancer Trust  

Supermarket Aldi has announced the return of the nation’s beloved Kevin the Carrot, dropping on Junemas Day as a limited-edition Malibu Kevin plush toy. 

Yes, that’s right, Kevin the Carrot is coming to town this week, as the nation gears up to celebrate Christmas in summer – Junemas. Research from Aldi has revealed that almost half (47%) of Brits will be marking the occasion, with a third (31%) taking inspiration from those ‘Down Under’ and planning a Junemas barbeque in the garden.  

Available from 9am on Friday 25^th June, Aldi will auction 300 of the cuddly root vegetables on eBay with all proceeds going to the supermarkets charity partner Teenage Cancer Trust. Fans will have the chance to bid over five days for the special summer themed Kevin.  

The supermarket delighted fans across the nation last month, after it announced it will be stocking a range of festive products to help people celebrate Junemas, including its famed Specially Selected Mini Mince Pies (£1.79) and Loaded Pig In Blankets (£2.99). But with no festive celebration being complete without the beloved Christmas icon, many were left asking – will Kevin the Carrot be back?  

Responding to demand, Aldi can today confirm that Kevin will indeed be driving home for Junemas, donning his best Hawaiian shirt, dressed to impress as he makes his way to the summer-style festive celebrations.   

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, comments: “Since we announced our Junemas range, there has been huge excitement from our customers, and we’ve had many asking if Kevin the Carrot is due to make an appearance. It really wouldn’t be a festive celebration without him, so we’re delighted to confirm that he will indeed be returning this week, with proceeds of all sales going to Teenage Cancer Trust.  

“However you plan to celebrate – be it a garden party or even taking inspiration from our friends ‘Down Under’ with a barbeque – we wish you a very Merry Junemas.” 

Carrot fever first swept the nation in 2016 when Kevin made his Aldi screen debut and his popularity has gone from strength to strength ever since.
