SIP, SIP, HOORAY!

ALDI’S OWN LABEL PASSIONFRUIT MARTINI COCKTAIL BEATS BRANDS AND MORE EXPENSIVE SUPERMARKETS TO BE NAMED BEST BUY IN WHICH? TASTE TEST

  • Aldi’s own label Passion Fruit Martini Cocktail voted BETTER tasting than Smirnoff and Absolut – which cost 55% more
  • Which? urges shoppers to swap out one of the nation’s favourite cocktails for ‘the best cans around’ from Aldi – just in time for the British summer!
  • Aldi’s popular Stefanoff Passionfruit Martini was also crowned winner by experts at the BBC Good Food Drink Awards

According to consumer champion Which?, Aldi’s Stefanoff Passion Fruit Martini Cocktail (250ml, £0.89) is this summer’s best canned cocktail.  In a blind taste test leading spirits brands Smirnoff and Absolut Passion Fruit Martini cocktails were pipped to the post by Aldi’s own-brand alternative – costing less than half the price!

Scoring higher on taste, aroma and appearance, Aldi’s delicious take on the classic Pornstar Martini, also beat own brand alternatives from other leading retailers including M&S.

With Passion Fruit Martinis leading the charge as Brits’ favourite cocktail[1] shoppers will no doubt be flocking to Aldi stores to get their hands on the fruity drink as they can save up to 55% compared to Smirnoff’s Passion Fruit Martini Cocktail. Aldi’s offering was also 31p cheaper than the next cheapest cocktail on test[2].

This is the second accolade the Stefanoff cocktail has won as it has also been awarded the best ready-to-drink tropical cocktail by experts at the BBC Good Food & Drinks Awards announced today.

And that’s not all; the supermarket’s popular Old Hopking Mojito (250ml, £0.89) was also awarded runner-up for the best ready-to-drink citrus cocktail, adding to Aldi’s growing number of accolades.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi, said: “Being awarded with not one but two wins for our own brand Passion Fruit Martini Cocktail is hugely exciting for us, and it couldn’t have come at a better time with the British summertime now upon us. We’re thrilled to continue our mission in offering quality products at affordable prices and being recognised as a ‘standout winner’ shows shoppers don’t need to pay more when it comes to enjoying the best”.

To try Aldi’s line up of award-winning tipples, including the latest RTD launches, Cocobay Pineapple (£0.89, 250ml), Samuel Joe’s Whisky Cola (£1.69, 330ml) and Stefanoff Freeze (£2.79, 70cl) head to Aldi stores.
