New analysis from consumer champion Which? has once again confirmed Aldi as the UK’s cheapest supermarket for March 2026, based on a basket of 95 popular grocery items.
The findings show shoppers would have paid £26.75 less at Aldi than at Tesco, even after Clubcard discounts. Sainsbury’s came in £28.47 pricier (with Nectar savings factored in), Morrisons was £29.70 higher, and Waitrose topped the list as the most expensive – a massive £64.38 more than Aldi for the same shopping basket.
The result continues Aldi’s strong start to 2026, having topped the Which? rankings in both January1 and February2. It also builds on its recognition as ‘Which? Cheapest Supermarket of the Year 2025’3.
The research underlines Aldi’s commitment to low prices, even when compared with competitors’ loyalty schemes, including Lidl Plus, Nectar and Tesco Clubcard.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Being named the UK’s cheapest supermarket once again reinforces Aldi’s commitment to delivering unbeatable value for shoppers. At a time when households are looking to make every pound go further, these results show that shoppers can rely on Aldi for consistently low prices across their weekly shop.”
