Consumer champion Which? has once again named Aldi the UK’s cheapest supermarket for a basket of 71 essential items this September, marking its eighth win this year and its 23rd win in the last two years.
The total price for a comparable basket at Aldi was found to be £17.47 less than at Morrisons. Similarly, the same basket of goods at Sainsbury’s was £19.93 more expensive, and Tesco’s total came in at £15.89 higher. Notably, even when shoppers utilised loyalty schemes such as Nectar or Clubcard, Aldi consistently remained the cheapest option.
Further analysis highlights even more substantial long-term savings. By opting for Aldi instead of Waitrose, savvy shoppers could have saved nearly £2,201[1] over the past year, highlighting the substantial financial advantage offered by the budget retailer.
