WIN A TRIP TO THE PARIS OLYMPIC GAMES: ALDI CALLS ON BUDDING YOUNG CHEFS TO DESIGN A MEAL FOR ATHLETES

Aldi is running a nationwide competition to offer one lucky family the chance to win a trip to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Britain’s fourth-largest supermarket is inviting school children aged between five and 14 to design a meal full of healthy and sustainable ingredients fit for an Olympic or Paralympic athlete.

All entries will be judged by Aldi alongside Team GB and ParalympicsGB, and the winner will not only win travel to Paris for their family, accommodation, hospitality, and tickets to three Olympic events, but also Aldi vouchers worth £100 and a further £1,000 for their school.

The competition is part of the supermarket’s longstanding partnership with Team GB and ParalympicsGB and is designed to educate young people around creating a balanced meal, how to fuel their bodies before and after taking part in physical activity, and the importance of certain food groups. It forms part of Aldi’s Get Set to Eat Fresh programme, which aims to inspire young people to eat healthily.

Kyrsten Halley, Marketing Director at Aldi UK, said: “This competition is part of our work with Team GB and ParalympicsGB to educate children on the importance of a balanced diet.

“We’re committed to inspiring young people to eat healthily, and our goal is to reach three million young people by the end of the year through our Get Set to Eat Fresh programme.

“We’re excited to offer a once-in-a-lifetime prize, and look forward to receiving a diverse range of entries.”

Tim Ellerton, Commercial Director at Team GB, added: “We are really proud to partner with Aldi on their latest initiative for the Get Set to Eat Fresh programme. Aldi continue to come up with new, innovative ideas to engage and inspire young people around the topic of eating fresh and healthy food – and this challenge is yet another exciting opportunity for school pupils to see their creativity rewarded and for their schools to benefit too.”

To enter the competition, parents and teachers can visit getseteatfresh.co.uk/designameal, download the resources and submit their children’s entry via email or post. Entries close on Friday 10th May 2024.

Alongside the Design a Meal competition, Aldi’s Get Set to Eat Fresh programme offers a series of teaching resources to educate children about nutrition, which can be accessed at www.getseteatfresh.co.uk.
