ALDI UNVEILS LUXURIOUS LINE-UP OF ALTERNATIVES TO TURKEY FOR CHRISTMAS DAY

After seeing sales of Wagyu increase by over 58% last year, supermarket Aldi is launching an extensive selection of festive mains so shoppers can enjoy carving out a new Christmas tradition. Truly a cut above the rest, options include everything from sought-after cuts of Wagyu to succulent lamb and premium poultry, all promising a showstopping centrepiece for every celebration. 

Beef:  

Nothing says indulgence like Aldi’s NEW Specially Selected The Ultimate Slow Cooked Wagyu Shin (£29.99 per kg). This 100% British Wagyu shin is slow cooked to perfection, deliciously tender and infused with a rich beef and truffle jus.  

Equally decadent is the NEW Specially Selected The Ultimate Wagyu Wing Rib (£32.99 per kg). Promising exceptional flavour and tenderness, this new Wagyu joint makes a truly impressive centrepiece for the festive table.  

Back by popular demand, the iconic Specially Selected The Ultimate Wagyu Tomahawk (£32.99 per kg), offering a supersized steak to impress guests, and the exquisitely tender, thick cut Specially Selected The Ultimate Wagyu Chateaubriand (£39.99, 750g) will also be returning to stores this Christmas.  

For the beef connoisseur, the NEW Specially Selected 40 Day Aged Aberdeen Angus Cote De Boeuf (£29.49 per kg) is the perfect choice. Made with 100% British Beef, the Cote De Boeuf is matured for 40 days and offers unparalleled depth of flavour and succulence. All beef festive mains are available in store from 19th December. 

Pork: 

For those who crave the satisfying crunch of crackling, Aldi’s Specially Selected Crackling Gammon Joint (£19.99, 2.5kg) is back and better than ever. This showstopping main promises a sugar-baked delight that’s a truly cracklin’ alternative to a traditional turkey course.  

Also returning to stores is the popular Specially Selected Slow Cooked Porchetta (£14.99, 1.15kg). This 100% British, deliciously smoky British porchetta is slow cooked for extra succulence and offers a truly indulgent and effortless centrepiece for a festive feast. Both available in stores from 5th December.  

Lamb: 

For lamb lovers, Aldi is launching a NEW Specially Selected Lamb Guard of Honour (£24.99 per kg). Boasting exposed ribs to form the signature guard of honour style arch, this stunning cut is crusted with a fragrant garlic and herb seasoning to create a truly impressive and flavourful centrepiece.  

For a lamb-based twist on a classic dish, shoppers can try Aldi’s Specially Selected Lamb Wellington (£16.99, 701g). Encased in deliciously buttery golden puff pastry, this dish makes for a truly special festive main. Both are available in store from 19th December.  

Poultry: 

Experience the height of luxury for less this festive season with Aldi’s NEW Specially Selected British Whole Duck (£8.99, 1.8kg). 100% British whole duck comes complete with giblets, perfect for crafting the most flavourful homemade gravy. A succulent and satisfying choice. 

Alternatively, shoppers can pick up the popular Specially Selected British East Anglian Whole Goose (£12.99 per kg). This free-range whole goose is grown on East Anglian farms, ensuring a rich flavour and exceptional tenderness. An ideal alternative for a truly traditional and impressive festive spread, serving 8-12 guests. Available from 19th December.

ALDI’S RECORD £1.65BN CHRISTMAS AS SHOPPERS SEEK UNBEATABLE PRICES

Aldi has recorded its best-ever Christmas, with sales of £1.65 billion (+3% vs. 2024) in the four weeks to Christmas Eve, as millions of shoppers turned to the UK’s lowest-priced supermarket to make their money go further during the festive season.

The supermarket said that price had been the biggest priority for shoppers in 2025, with customers seeking ways to celebrate on a budget without compromising on quality. Ahead of the big day, Aldi committed to beating rivals on the price of a traditional Christmas dinner – part of a £325m investment to lower hundreds of prices throughout the year.

The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket saw total sales increase by over 5% in the week leading up to Christmas, as customers spent around £500m with the discounter. Aldi said 22nd December marked its busiest trading day - as millions of customers flocked to stock up on seasonal items ahead of the big day.

Aldi colleagues handled over 57m transactions over the four-week period to Christmas Eve, its highest ever number.

Demand for its Specially Selected premium own-label range also increased by over 12%, showing that customers were still keen to treat themselves but in a way that offered better value for money.

Popular products included award-winning festive lines such as Aldi’s Specially Selected The Ultimate Wagyu Fat Roast Potatoes, Specially Selected Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets, as well as Specially Selected White Chocolate Ganache Pinecones.

Shoppers also celebrated with a glass of fizz, with Aldi selling over 5.5m bottles, or 33m glasses, of sparkling wine over the festive period.

Aldi also saw strong demand for home-grown produce, with sales of British-sourced meat and vegetables up as customers supported British during their Christmas shop at Aldi. As a result, shoppers bought 56 million potatoes, 37 million carrots, and half a million turkeys – all sourced from Aldi’s long-standing British supplier partners.

“We delivered a Christmas without compromise, offering customers award-winning British products at unbeatable prices. We’re grateful that more people than ever chose Aldi for their Christmas shop and trusted us to deliver both quality and value during what remains a challenging time for many. I’m immensely proud of our amazing colleagues who, once again, went above and beyond to deliver a wonderful Christmas for our customers.

Aldi has been named the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket by consumer champion Which? for the past four years and also retained its Christmas Retailer of the Year crown at the Quality Food Awards 2025 for the sixth consecutive year.

Meanwhile, Aldi also continued its partnership with Neighbourly to support those in need during the festive season, donating an estimated one million meals to local charities, food banks and community groups across the UK.
