ALDI BRACES FOR KNOCK OUT SALES DURING WOMEN’S EUROS

25 June, 2025

  • The supermarket expects to sell 6.5 million packets of crisps, almost 7 million pizzas and 10 million packs of beer while the football is on[1]
  • This news comes as a record number of Brits are expected to watch the Lionesses from home this July[2]

With the 2025 tournament fast approaching, the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket[1], Aldi, is anticipating a drastic spike in sales of beer, crisps and pizza, with quantities in the millions expected to fly from shelves.[2]

With more Brits tuning into women’s sporting events each year[3], the Women’s Euros are expected to score record numbers of viewers from home this season. As a result, Aldi is bracing for 6.5 million packets of crisps, almost 7 million pizzas and 10 million packs of beer to be sold following the first kick-off on 2nd July.  That’s enough to feed Wembley stadium 261 times over[4].

The supermarket expects a 20% rise in crisp sales during the tournament, with low-cost, tasty essentials including its Snackrite Deltas Tortilla Chips (89p, 200g) range and Snackrite Stackz (£1.35, 150-165g) range predicted to be popular.

As for mains, pizza is clearly the half-time must-have treat as Aldi expects just under 2 million pizzas per week to be purchased from stores across the UK over the four-week tournament. Popular items such as the Carlos Takeaway Stuffed Crust Pepperoni Pizza (£4.29, 691g) and theGood Housekeeping approved[5] Specially Selected Chilled Mozzarella & Tomato Pizza (£3.99, 490g) offer perfect match-time options.

Meanwhile, in the booze aisle, Aldi expects over 10 million packs of beer to be added to shopping baskets during the tournament. That’s 463 packs sold per minute[6] of shopper favourites such as Sainte Etienne Premium Lager (£3.49, 4 x 440ml) and Rheinbacher Pilsner (£3.69, 4 x 440ml).

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “There’s nothing better than a football tournament to bring family and friends together. We expect the Women’s Euros to be a big highlight this summer, so we’ll ensure our shoppers have everything they need to throw the perfect watching party.”

Aldi’s extensive range of crisps, pizzas and beers are available in stores now.
