ALDI EXPANDS RUM RANGE AFTER £15 RUM NAMED ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD

• Aldi’s Sea Dog Premium Spiced Rum awarded Gold medal by esteemed blind tasting competition.
• Aldi’s £14.99 rum was awarded the same accolade as rums costing nearly three times as much, including Wing Walker Rum and Rosemullion Spiced Rum[1].
• Two tropical additions are being made to Aldi’s rum range this Spring – launching on 15^th March.

Aldi has today revealed it is expanding its rum range to cater for growing demand. The supermarket has unveiled two new Summer flavours: Tropical Pineapple Rum and Raspberry Mojito Rum (both £14.99 for 70cl).

Available from 15^th March, the fruity flavours cater for the growing demand for flavoured rum, which helped the category to buck the trend and sell 1.3million extra bottles between April and June 2020 last year[2].

The news comes as Aldi’s popular Sea Dog Premium Spiced Rum (£14.99) scoops a coveted Gold award at one of the world’s most highly regarded blind tasting competitions, the Spirit Business Rum Masters. Aldi’s own-label rum not only placed higher than rums, such as Ripping Yarns Golden Spiced Rum, which only received a Silver medal, it also costs a whopping £25 less[3]!

This isn’t the first time Aldi’s Sea Dog Premium Spiced Rum has been given the nod of approval by experts. This is the third year in a row Spirits Business has awarded the Aldi rum with a gold medal. The tasting panel noted its excellence in taste and great-value price point in what it said was ‘was one of the largest rounds in this year’s blind tasting’.

Cassario Tropical Pineapple Rum is a tropical rum, boasting flavours of sweet pineapple and red apple with a touch of spice.

Cassario Rasberry Mojito Rum isa premium raspberry mojito flavour rum with notes of fresh raspberry, citrus and delicious mint.

Cassario Tropical and Raspberry Mojito Rums are available at Aldi stores and Aldi.co.uk for just £14.99 from 15^th March. Sea Dog Rum is available now.
