ALDI IS MAKING A BIG CHANGE TO ITS WINE AISLE – AND IT STARTED THIS WEEK

9 September, 2025

  • Famed for its award-winning wines, the supermarket has unveiled its new bottles for autumn and winter

Aldi has unveiled a major shake-up to its wine aisle, and it’s set to delight shoppers across the UK.

From this week, the supermarket is introducing brand-new wines in all stores, just in time for autumn and winter. The range offers shoppers the chance to enjoy premium bottles without the premium price tag.

Known for its award-winning wine range, Aldi was recently crowned Wine Supermarket of the Year at The People’s Choice Awards[1] and has scooped over 178 medals for quality in the past year alone.

The refreshed line-up combines exciting new discoveries with returning festive favourites, featuring everything from rich, fireside reds to crisp whites ideal for hearty seasonal dishes. A selection of sparkling wines is also included, ready to bring a touch of fizz to Christmas celebrations.

Aldi’s wine expert and Master of Wine[1], Sam Caporn, says the new range is designed to pair perfectly with the flavours of the colder months: “As summer fades, it’s time to uncork the flavours of autumn. Think medium-bodied reds for cosy evenings, or a tropical Stellenbosch Chardonnay alongside a Sunday roast. And here’s a secret – the Cigales Rosé isn’t just for summer. Its vibrant acidity makes it a surprisingly perfect partner for winter dishes too.”

Sam’s top picks from the new range:

Specially Selected Stellenbosch Chardonnay (£6.99, 75cl) – Sunshine in a glass. Bursting with juicy nectarine, ripe orange, pineapple, peach and mango, this South African stunner is fresh, vibrant and perfectly balanced with a gentle twist of white pepper on the finish. Medium-bodied and full of character – ideal for brightening up a Sunday roast or a cosy night in.

Specially Selected Cigales Rosado (£8.99, 75cl) – Pretty in pink and just as elegant as it looks. Delicate aromas of rosehip, cranberry and redcurrant lead to a crisp, dry palate with zesty pink grapefruit and pomegranate. Refreshing, vibrant and full of life – proof that rosé isn’t just for summer.

Specially Selected Moldovan Rară Neagră (£7.99, 75cl) – Deep crimson and wonderfully inviting, this bold beauty is laced with notes of black pepper, dark chocolate and cherry. Medium to full-bodied with layers of spiced plums, cocoa nibs and a warming hint of exotic spice, it’s a perfect fireside pour when the nights draw in.

Specially Selected Pinot Grigio Valdadige DOC (£7.99, 75cl) – Pale, straw yellow in the glass, this fresh and delicate Pinot Grigio offers aromas of ripe orchard fruits, gentle florals and wet rocks. Light-bodied and crisp, there’s honeysuckle and citrus zest on the palate, which complements the long, mineral finish.

Specially Selected Terret Blanc (£8.49, 75cl) – An historic Languedoc white grape, Terret Blanc is filled with aromas of white flowers, subtle citrus and ripe stone fruits. On the palate, there’s a brisk acidity which perfectly complements the ripeness and body. It finishes with crisp melon and nectarine notes.

Specially Selected Sparkling Wine of England (£9.99, 75cl) – Straw in colour with notes of stewed apple, apple crumble and rhubarb. The palate is dry and flavourful with a raspberry finish.

Don’t wait to raise a glass! Aldi’s Autumn Winter wine range is in stores now.
