ALDI LAUNCHES FIRST EVER JAPANESE GIN AND IT’S ALREADY WINNING AWARDS

  • The new Haysmith’s Yuzu & Mandarin Gin scooped a Silver medal at the prestigious International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC)
  • At just £16.99, shoppers can save 55% compared to alternative Japanese gin brands

Supermarket Aldi is introducing its first-ever Japanese gin to stores from 21st May, for just £16.99 (70cl).

The Haysmith’s Yuzu & Mandarin Gin blends popular Japanese citrus fruit Yuzu, a cross between lemon and grapefruit, with flavours of fresh sweet mandarin and juniper. Hints of cherry blossom and subtle spiced notes of Sansho peppers make for an aromatic, complex finish.

Already making waves in the spirits industry, the expertly distilled tipple landed a SILVER medal at this year’s prestigious International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC), beating brands costing double the price[1].

With the global popularity of Japanese whisky sparking interest in other Japanese spirits, the country is rapidly gaining a reputation within the gin sector[2] Craft distillers adopt the meticulous blending method used in Japanese whisky production, fusing native botanicals to create a distinctly Japanese flavour profile.

As well as winning in the flavour department, Aldi’s latest Haysmith’s launch also offers outstanding value. Priced at just £16.99 per bottle, shoppers can save an incredible 55% compared to similar products, such as the Curio Yuzu & Mandarin Gin.

Haysmith’s Yuzu & Mandarin Gin £16.99. 70cl
