Aldi has appointed a new ‘Ambassador of Joy’ after local London legend Ricki Reid was asked to stop blowing bubbles on his bus route through the capital.
Ricki has been given the title after spreading joy among passengers on his journey between Finsbury Park and Whitechapel, with his bubble-blowing antics proving particularly popular with younger passengers, who reportedly nicknamed his service the ‘bubble bus’.
To celebrate the happiness he has brought to the community over the years, Ricki has been appointed ‘Ambassador of Joy’ of Aldi’s Finsbury Park store, so he can continue to spread cheer (and plenty of bubbles) along his much-loved route.
He brought his signature smile and a touch of bubble magic to Aldi’s Arena Shopping Park store in Finsbury Park (20/08/2026), greeting shoppers as they arrived.
And because a little joy goes a long way, Aldi will be making a charitable donation to The Bubble Foundation, which supports babies and children born with severe, life-threatening immune deficiencies, providing vital support to families when they need it most.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Ricki is a real pillar of his local community and has brought so much joy to Londoners over the years, so what better way to celebrate him than by making him our Ambassador of Joy at a store he passes every day?
“We’re delighted to help keep the smiles – and bubbles – going, while also supporting the brilliant work of The Bubble Foundation and the families it helps.”
