8 June, 2026

  • The supermarket reveals enough cans to line the length of 72,705 football pitches end-to-end will be sold across the World Cup tournament (11th June – 19th July)1
  • That works out at over 1,330 cans flying off shelves every minute2
  • Aldi also predicts shoppers will snap up over 14 million pizzas and 9 million packs of crisps as fans gear up for viewing parties across the country3

With football fever gripping the nation ahead of the World Cup kick-off on 11th June, Aldi, recently named Which? Best Value Brand of the Year4, is predicting record-breaking beer sales as shoppers stock up for the tournament.

Between 11th June and 19th July, the supermarket expects to sell over a staggering 74 million cans of beer across the tournament – that’s over 1,330 cans every single minute, or enough cans to line the length of 72,705 football pitches end-to-end.

Fans looking to stock up for big-screen viewing parties at home can pick up Aldi’s award-winning own-label lagers, including Sainte Etienne Premium Lager (£3.39, 4 x 440ml) and Galahad  Lager (£2.99, 4 x 440ml), offering great value compared to branded alternatives.

It’s not just beer expected to fly off the shelves. Aldi predicts shoppers will snap up over 14 million pizzas and more than 9 million packs of crisps during the tournament, as football fans turn to easy, shareable matchday bites.

For an unbeatable spread, fans can pick up Aldi’s fan-favourite Carlos Takeaway Pizzas (£2.49, 557g) in Meat Feast, Pepperoni and Big Cheese, alongside Snackrite Deltas Tortilla Chips (89p, 200g) in Cool, Salted, Chilli and Tangy Cheese.

Aldi’s range of beers, pizzas and crisps are available in stores nationwide now.
