ALDI REVEALS STAGGERING SALES OF FISH FINGERS AS UK CELEBRATES 70 YEARS OF THE HOUSEHOLD STAPLE

22 September, 2025

  • 26th September marks 70 years of the fish finger
  • Aldi’s fish finger sales equate to over 500 sold every minute[1] – and enough to cover the distance of London to Bali [i]

With the trusty fish finger due to celebrate its 70th anniversary this September, supermarket Aldi has revealed the British household staple to be one of its most frequently sold items.

Known for being a versatile and affordable freezer staple, Aldi has seen over 225,000 packs fly off shelves each week. This equates to almost 140 million individual fish fingers sold[i] – enough to cover the distance of London to Bali when lined up![1]

In celebration of this milestone, Aldi has launched the NEW The Fishmonger Chunky Jumbo Fish Fingers (£2.69, 400g). Available in a choice of breaded or battered, the fingers are made from 100% Alaska Pollock.

For those looking to mix things up, Aldi’s The Fishmonger Fish Fillet Burgers (£2.39, 227g) are a tasty alternative to the classic fish finger and make the perfect sandwich filling. Available in three flavours: Tempura Batter, Southern Fried and Buttermilk, they are crispy, succulent, and hassle free. Both are available in stores now.

Aldi’s full range of fish fingers and fish burgers are available in stores now.

[1] 10cm fish finger x 140 million = 8699 miles

The distance from London to the Bali is approximately 7,700 to 8,000 miles

[1] 2,689,030 individual fish fingers sold per week / 5,160 minutes in an Aldi sales week = 521 fish fingers sold per minute
