ALDI SEES SURGE IN ICE CREAM, BBQ FOOD AND ROSÉ SALES AS UK TEMPERATURES SOAR TO HIGHER THAN GREECE

3 April, 2025

  • The supermarket is on course to sell almost 2 million sausages[1], over 1.5 million burgers[2] and over 1 million burger and hot dog buns[3] in the first week of April as Brits embrace BBQ season early
  • Ice cream sales are also set to hit 3.5 million[4] while 1.6 million[5] glasses of rosé wine are expected to fly off shelves across the sizzling week

Supermarket Aldi is bracing for a surge in sales equivalent to that of a mid-summer heatwave as Brits stock up on essentials including ice cream, rosé wine and BBQ staples ahead of soaring temperatures.

The nation is set to be bathing in April sunshine warmer than that of Spain or Greece this weekend with the UK predicted to reach highs of 21 degrees from Friday (4th April)[6].

Ice cream sales are expected to reach 3.5 million in the first week of April, reflecting a staggering 25% increase vs this time last year.

Must haves such as the NEW Gianni’s Cola Bottle Ice Lollies (£1.99, 6 pack) are expected to fly off shelves as Brits stock up on frozen goodies for the hot weekend.

The supermarket also expects sales of BBQ essentials to surge as Brits get barbies fired up early. Aldi is set to sell almost 2 million sausages in the first week of April, over 1.5 million burgers and over 1 million hot dog and burger buns.

And drinks will flow as well; the supermarket predicts a whopping 1.6 million glasses of rosé will fly off shelves in the first week of April — cheers to that!
