ALDI UNVEILS FAN FAVOURITE 1-LITRE HIGHLAND EARL WHISKY

Get ready, whisky lovers! Aldi is about to make autumn evenings a whole lot warmer with the launch of its sensational Highland Earl Blended Scotch Whisky in a 1 litre bottle for £17.49. The launch comes as Aldi’s whiskies secured Gold and Silver Medals at The Scotch Whisky Masters 2025[2] – proving a quality drop doesn’t always have to be expensive!

Pouring a clear golden colour, Aldi’s Highland Earl Blended Scotch Whisky offers a clean aroma with a hint of soft citrus and delicate vanilla. On the palate, it’s well-balanced and mellow with a delicate maltiness, leading to a long-lasting sweetness in the aftertaste.

Whether enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as the star of a classic cocktail, Highland Earl Blended Scotch Whisky offers versatility for every whisky lover. What’s more, it’s ideal for keeping guests entertained all winter long and can be used in a timeless autumnal cocktail:

Old Fashioned Recipe

Ingredients:

For the bitters (serves 10):

  • 6 x peppercorns
  • 6 x frozen or fresh cherries
  • ½ tsp Ready, Set…Cook! Mixed Spice
  • ½ orange peel
  • 75ml water
  • 50ml Highland Earl Blended Scotch Whisky

For the Old Fashioned (ingredients per cocktail):

  • 1 tsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tsp Bitters
  • 60ml Highland Earl Blended Scotch Whisky
  • A splash of Vive Indian Tonic Water
  • Slice of orange and a cherry to serve

Method:

For the bitters – (this total batch will create 10 servings):

  1. Place all ingredients for the bitters into a small pan and bring to the boil
  2. As soon as the mix has boiled, remove from the heat and allow to cool
  3. When cool, strain through a fine sieve and set aside
  4. Keep the cherries for serving later

For the Old Fashioned:

  1. Put the sugar, bitters and tonic water in a small tumbler
  2. Mix until the sugar dissolves
  3. Fill your glass with ice and stir in the whisky
  4. Add more tonic water if you like and mix
  5. Garnish with a slice of orange and cherry
