This summer Aldi is giving shoppers the best of British, as it introduces two homegrown tipples as part of its August Spirits Festival. Available in stores from 21st August.
Made in collaboration with Herefordshire based Penhros Gin, Haysmith’s Wonky Raspberry & Blueberry Gin (£14.99, 70cl) contains over 100g of ‘wonky’ fruits and contributes towards saving a staggering one tonne of fruit, which would otherwise have gone to waste.
The fruit farmer turned craft distillery was the winner of Aldi’s 2021 Grow With Aldi spirits competition, which saw the supermarket search for small distillers to stock in stores nationwide. This elegantly smooth and complex gin is the second offering from the Penhros team; bursting with berry-flavoured undertones and notes of Juniper, it is best served over ice with a light tonic and a scattering of a berries.
Also included in the stella line up is new Haysmith’s English Vodka (£14.99, 70cl) which is designed to meet increased demand for non-Russian vodka[1]. Expertly crafted by master distillers in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales this is a full-bodied vodka, with a velvety texture and light creaminess on the finish. Best served over ice or with a premium tonic, it’s the perfect base for cocktails or long drinks – great for BBQ season and summertime gatherings.
The homegrown tipples will join four other new spirits in stores from the 21st August, including:
Krautmeister Herbal Liqueur (£15.99, 70cl)
Offering shoppers a taste of Western Europe, this herbaceous liqueur is finely crafted with herbs from Belgium’s Ardennes Forest. Boasting a delicate blend of spices, blossoms and fruits, this tipple offers a sweet but balanced finish that is best served chilled or neat over ice.
El Toro Coffee Liqueur Tequila (£15.99, 70cl)
Expertly crafted with Tequila Blanco, this accented tipple offers a delicious blend of coffee, chocolate and vanilla for a smooth yet dry finish. What’s more, shoppers could save an incredible 84% compared to Café Patron XO[1].
