ALDI WINE EXPERT REVEALS GENIUS HACK USING UNEXPECTED HOUSEHOLD ITEM TO KEEP ROSÉ COLD

27 August, 2026

  • Aldi’s wine expert Sam Caporn MW reveals her go-to frozen hack to keep rosé beautifully chilled: swapping traditional ice cubes for frozen grapes
  • The tip comes as research reveals Britain is split over adding ice to rosé, with 48% admitting they do it, while half of the nation (51%) refuse to dilute their glass
  • The trick pairs perfectly with Aldi’s budget-friendly rosé range, available from just £5.29

As temperatures continue to soar, a divisive debate has resurfaced among wine lovers: should you add ice to your rosé? While 48% of Brits admit to dropping a cube or two into their glass, more than half of the nation (51%) are firmly against the idea, refusing to dilute their drink.

But there is no need to wine about warm drinks as Aldi’s Mistress of Wine, Sam Caporn MW, has revealed the ultimate solution for keeping wine ice-cold without compromising on flavour – swapping ice cubes for frozen grapes.

Sam Caporn says: “Frozen grapes are one of my favourite summer wine tricks because they’re incredibly simple, they look great in the glass and, most importantly, they keep your rosé beautifully chilled without watering it down.

“As they don’t melt like ice cubes, every sip tastes exactly as the winemaker intended. It’s an easy swap that makes a real difference, especially when you’re enjoying a glass outside in the sunshine with friends and family.”

It comes as Aldi continues to see soaring demand for its rosé range, with the average drinker expected to have gone through 20 glasses of pink this summer alone. Fan-favourite Chassaux et Fils Sainte Victoire Provence Rosé has seen sales increase by 100% year-on-year, while Costellore Primitivo Puglia Rosé is up 64% as shoppers stock up for barbecues, picnics and garden gatherings.

And while serving temperature remains a hot topic, Aldi’s research suggests another surprisingly divisive rosé debate is brewing – colour. Nearly one in three (31%) UK adults admit they’ve turned down a glass simply because it wasn’t the right shade of pink, with that pickiness equating to an estimated £103 million worth of rosé rejected each year.

Aldi’s rosé range has every summer occasion covered, with bottles starting from just £5.29.

Costellore Primitivo Rosato Puglia Rosé (£5.29, 75cl): An intense rosé full of exotic character, with notes of ripe watermelon, cherry, and a hint of rose petal.
