ALDI’S BUDGET HOME BAKER RANGE IS BACK

• Aldi’s sweetest new range lands just in time to inspire the nation ahead of baking season 

• The legendary Classic Stand Mixer returns to help shoppers whip up a storm for just £34.99

• The latest range is available in stores from 13^th September 

As baking fever is set to sweep the nation, Aldi is helping shoppers improve their skills with the return of the Home Baking range. Landing in stores from 13^th September, this collection will help budding bakers create masterpieces without spending too much dough. But shoppers had better be quick, as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone! 

First in the mix is the iconic Classic Stand Mixer (£34.99). A returning fan-favourite, this stylish gadget is a baker’s dream for whipping, mixing, and kneading. Featuring six speed settings and a pulse function, this versatile stand mixer comes complete with a 5L stainless steel bowl, whisk, dough hook and beater attachment. A must-have for any kitchen, it’s available in a stylish sage green or classic red. 

For bakers ready to whisk it for a biscuit, the versatile Hand Mixer & Food Chopper (£11.99) has batters whipped into shape in no time. To ensure every bake is measured with precision, the Measuring Spoon & Sieve Set (£5.99) includes a range of sizes, perfect for achieving accurate results every time.

Bonus for bakers: Victoria Sponge Cake  

Aldi has created a classic Victoria Sponge Cake recipe designed to put its Home Baker range to the test: 

Serves: 1 Victoria Sponge (serves 6) 

Prep time: 30 mins | Bake: 40 minutes 

For the Victoria sponge cake: 

• 3 Medium eggs 

• 150g Self raising flour 

• 150g Caster sugar 

• 150g Butter or margarine (Plus some for greasing) 

• Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract 

• Strawberry jam to sandwich the cake 

For the Buttercream: 

• 100g Icing sugar 

• 50g Butter 

• Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract 

Method: 

1. Preheat the oven to 170°C/Gas Mark 3. 

2. Place the shelf in the centre of the oven. 

3. Grease and line two 18cm (7 inch) sandwich tins with baking parchment. 

4. Sieve the flour into a bowl and add the sugar, butter or margarine and vanilla. 

5. Crack in the eggs and beat well until the mixture is light in colour and fluffy. 

6. Divide the cake mixture between the tins and smooth the tops. 

7. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown. 

8. Cool for 5 minutes in the tins, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely. 

9. To make the buttercream, sieve the icing sugar into a bowl, add the butter and vanilla and beat well. 

10. To sandwich the cakes together: Add a layer of jam to the top of one of the sponges, followed by a layer of the buttercream on top of the jam, finish by placing the last of the sponges on top. 

11. Dust with a layer of icing sugar if desired.
