Supermarket Aldi is coming to the aid of those wanting to recreate those Greek island memories from home, with two of their latest tipples coming straight from the Med – and for under £10, honey, honey, now that’s something to cheers to!

With wine connoisseurs predicting a resurgence in Greek wine, Aldi’s new Greek Assyrtiko and Greek Rosé will give shoppers the chance to see what all the grape fuss is about.[1] So,whether you’re out tanning whilst tucking into taramasalata and tzatziki or settling in for a night with souvlaki on the sofa, Aldi will provide the perfect accompaniment to recreating the taverna experience at home from just £6.99.

Arguably Greece’s most iconic wine, Assyrtiko has been leading the pack in terms of emerging Greek wines hitting UK shelves. [i] A versatile grape variety, ranging from yellow to gold in colour with citrus blossom aromas and flavours, it can often be compared to the much-loved Sauvignon Blanc.

From ancient Greek lands around the village of Leotio we present a dry, succulent white wine with complex aromas of fresh citrus, grapefruit and flinty mineral notes.  On the palate the wine boasts a rich body with plenty of crisp acidity making it the perfect match for white meats or seafood. 

Greek Rosé (£6.99, ABV 12.5%, Vintage: 2019)

A dry rosé wine from Greece, made with Grenache, Syrah and Agiorgitiko grapes that produce a light salmon colour. This rosé has hints of peach and citrus fruit aromas. This delicate balance of dry fresh acidity with fruity flavours, offers a lovely minerality and elegant finish.
