Sofia May, 8, from Southampton, has landed the sweetest job in the world as Aldi’s new Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer.
Beating hundreds of hopeful candidates from across the country, Sofia now embarks on a delicious mission — taste a selection of Aldi’s Easter eggs in exchange for reporting back her thoughts to the supermarket’s Buying Team. Sofia’s feedback will help guide what goes on shelves for Easter 2026.
Chocolate lovers of all ages applied for the dream job, submitting egg-cellent videos to showcase why they were right for the role.
Sofia caught the attention of the judges with a video in which she answered a series of questions while enjoying her favourite Dairyfine Milk Chocolate Buttons (69p, 70g).
When asked why she’d be perfect for the role, she answered: “Because I love Aldi and I’m a chocoholic.”
She also called out Aldi’s Specially Selected Chocolate Bunny (£1.99, 100g) as one of her favourite chocolate treats.
As the supermarket’s new Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer, Sofia will receive a selection of Aldi’s Easter treats including the Dairyfine Bubble Tea (£7.99, 215g) and Dairyfine Curious Inventions Egg (£2.99, 180g) that’s bursting with popping candy, chocolate beans and cherry jellies.
Sofia says: “I can’t wait to taste these Easter eggs and be Aldi’s new Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer as chocolate is my favourite thing. Me and my mummy and daddy were really surprised when I won, and they are very proud of me.”
Sofia’s dad, Kev, says: “Sofia’s always had a love for chocolate, so seeing her get the chance to share her passion with Aldi is beyond exciting. It’s truly a dream come true for her and we’re all looking forward to tasting the Easter eggs together! When we told Sofia she had won, she was bouncing around the living room screaming ‘I can’t believe it!’”
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, says: “We’re so excited to welcome Sofia as our new Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer. Sofia’s passion for chocolate really stood out and her reviews will not only provide useful feedback, but it will also help guide our decisions to make next year’s range even more special.”
Aldi’s Easter treat range, which starts from just 59p, also includes the Specially Selected Double Indulgence Eggs (£11.99, 300g) and Specially Selected Dessert Eggs (£2.49, 150g).
What’s more, after selling out last year and flying from the shelves, Aldi’s range of Dairyfine Chocolate Pets (£3.99, 150g) are also available in stores now including an adorable new addition, Mabel the Tabby Cat.
Shoppers can also pick up the Dairyfine Chocolate Easter Egg and Plush Toy (£4.99, 55g) as well as the NEW Dairyfine Chocolate Easter Egg and Activity Book (£2.99, 62g) with puzzles, games and stickers of both Charlie the Labrador and Honey the Golden Retriever. All available in stores now.
