“EVERY BIT AS DELICIOUS, IF NOT EVEN MORE SO” WINE EXPERT REVEALS NEW ALDI WINES THAT TASTE JUST LIKE MIRAVAL AND WHISPERING ANGEL

  • In a blind taste test, Mistress of Wine, Sam Caporn, reveals Aldi’s rosé offers unbeatable value against the popular brands that retail at 67%[1]and 63%[2] more
  • The Specially Selected Coteaux de Béziers Rosé and Specially Selected La Bonne Vie Rosé form part of the supermarket’s new Spring Summer wine range – available in stores now with prices starting from just £5.99

Which? Cheapest Supermarket of the Year champion[1], Aldi, has announced its highly anticipated Spring Summer Rosé range – with prices starting from as little as £5.99. Available in stores nationwide now.

It’s no secret that Brits love a drop of rosé; two-thirds describe the tipple as the nation’s ‘perfect summer drink’, while fans enjoy 63 glasses on average throughout the summer season[2].

Typically associated with pricey Provence styles, wine expert, Sam Caporn, has today revealed that shoppers can enjoy a très magnifique tipple without the hefty price tag when opting for Aldi’s rosé.

A member of the exclusive Institute of Masters of Wine, Sam comments: “Shoppers should look at moving away from pricey Provence and switching to off-the-grid French regions such as IGP Pays d’Oc or Coteaux de Béziers. Wines are made in the same way and from the same grapes, but without the expensive price tag.”

Following a blind taste test, Sam likened Aldi’s Specially Selected Coteaux de Béziers Rosé (£8.49, 75cl) to Miraval, while the Specially Selected La Bonne Vie Rosé (£8.99, 75cl) was comparable to Whispering Angel, revealing that:

“These alternatives are every bit as delicious – dry, pale and delicate – and in fact, even more so in my opinion, when I tasted them blind.”

Specially Selected Coteaux de Béziers Rosé (£8.49, 75cl)

“From the beautifully shaped bottle to the pretty, pale pink colour, this rosé is an excellent ringer for Brad Bitt’s Miraval. With its elegant but evident red fruit notes of cherry and raspberry, and suggestions of peach, it compares brilliantly.”

Specially Selected La Bonne Vie Rosé (£8.99, 75cl).

’Tight and crisp, this rosé is for fans who like their pink to be pale, dry, and full of that refreshment factor! This rosé ‘whispers’ subtle red fruit flavours of redcurrant and cranberry followed by watermelon. A suitable comparison to the popular Whispering Angel.”
