Sweet-toothed fans are in for a treat as Aldi prepares to launch a supermarket-first REAL CAKE sarnie — the Cake Sandwich (£1.99, 2 pack), available in stores from 13th October.

This NEW, scrumptious sandwich arrives in the bakery aisle following shopper demands.

One rival supermarket found its version met with clear shopper preference for traditional cake, with remarks like: “I’d rather a piece of cake. CYA.”

The public’s appetite for a proper sweet treat was so strong that many turned directly to Aldi, saying: “I’m just waiting for Aldi to come with something now,” and “Aldi UK, when do you intend to enter the chat?”2

Aldi has delivered with its NEW Cake Sandwich that combines two soft layers of golden vanilla sponge, a thick spread of creamy blush vanilla frosting, and a generous scattering of rainbow sprinkles — because bread belongs under beans, not buttercream.
