OBJECTION! Aldi has confirmed its much-publicised venture into legal services – LEGALDI – was an April Fools’ prank.
Earlier this morning, the nation’s cheapest supermarket2 posted on its social media channels that it was launching a new law firm, inviting shoppers to call a free hotline to make a claim — a hotline that famously had a Kim Kardashian lookalike fielding enquiries:
However, the supermarket has now issued a formal retraction. A tongue-in-cheek letter addressed to followers on LEGALDI letterhead states: “It’s April Fools’! Please don’t ‘judge’ us.”
The supermarket’s post has sparked a flurry of responses with many shoppers admitting they were fooled:
“I called and logged a case, I expect full legal protection from legaldi on this”
Judging by shopper reactions, it seems the case is closed on Aldi’s legal career, and they’ll be sticking to serving seriously low prices instead of subpoenas.
