OOH LA LA!  EMILY IN PARIS SEASON 4 BOOSTS SALES OF FRENCH ALDI PRODUCTS BY A THIRD

  • Supermarket says shoppers are stocking up on Camembert (+34%), Bordeaux wine (+29%) and Sud de France rosé (+19%) to toast return of cult show

Brits have been hit with French-fever since the Netflix smash hit, ‘Emily in Paris’, returned to screens on Thursday 15th August.  Supermarket Aldi says shoppers have been rushing to purchase French food and wine, in what has been dubbed as the ‘Emily Effect’.

Sales of the retailer’s popular Emporium French Camembert Cheese (£1.99, 250g) have jumped more than a third (34%).  Those toasting the show’s return with one of Emily’s favourite tipples have been stocking up on Aldi’s Pierre Jaurant Sud De France Rosé (£6.29, 75cl) sales of which have jumped by a fifth (19%).

Wine fans have also been enjoying a glass or two of the supermarket’s Pierre Jaurant Bordeaux (£4.99, 75cl), up 29%. The French red hit the headlines earlier this year after Mistress of Wine, Sam Caporn, likened it to the Beckhams’ favourite Château Mouton Rothschild, which retails at over £3,000. 1

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, says: “It’s fascinating to see the “Emily Effect” hit the shelves of Aldi. The spotlight has been on French products this summer and it’s great to see momentum continue as this cult Parisian show returns to screens.

“We’re incredibly proud of the quality and affordability of our French food and wine and are glad shoppers are enjoying what’s on offer.”

Aldi’s range of French cheeses and wines is available in store now.
