SOLIHULL COUPLE LAND ALDI LISTING AFTER APPEARING ON CHANNEL 4 SHOW

  • Katherine and Harry Jenner’s rum will be listed in stores nationwide after appearing on Aldi’s Next Big Thing last year
  • Burning Barn’s British Apple Spiced Rum (£17.99, 70cl) lands on shelves from 10th August

Katherine Jenner, 34 and husband Harry Jenner 36, from Solihull, will have their award-winning rum stocked at Aldi this August, after appearing on last year’s hit Channel 4 show Aldi’s Next Big Thing.

Despite the duo’s ‘Burning Barn Rum’ not making it to the final stage at the time, Aldi’s buying team were so impressed with the taste, they asked the craft rum brand to develop and tweak their product for Aldi shoppers.

Now, the couple will be introducing THREE new tipples to the supermarket’s aisles, including Burning Barn British Apple Spiced Rum (£17.99, 70cl), Burning Barn Rum Honey & Rum RTD (£1.99) and Burning Barn Smoked Rum & Ginger RTD (£1.99). On shelves from 10th August.

The latest additions to Aldi’s award-winning line-up offer a unique and playful take on a Caribbean classic. Boasting notes of caramel and treacle with a burst of apple, the Burning Barn British Apple Spiced Rum offers a deliciously spiced tipple that is both smooth and fiery.

With rum sales overtaking whiskey for the first time ever last year[i], shoppers looking to indulge in the popular spirit can also try the pre-mixed version, Burning Barn Rum Honey & Rum RTD. With silky smooth flavours of sweet honey mixed with lemonade, and conveniently packaged for on-the-go enjoyment, it’s the perfect festival companion.

For those seeking a touch of zing, Burning Barn Smoked Rum & Ginger RTD is expertly blended with mouth-watering ginger beeras good as any bartender’s shaken and stirred counterpart but for a fraction of the price!

‘Burning Barn Rum’, is a unique brand that quite literally rose from the ashes of a barn fire on a family farm in Eastcote.

Katherine says: In September 2015, flights into Birmingham Airport were diverted due to a huge column of black smoke rising from a barn on the flight path.

“Big bags of sugar from the existing family business fed fuel to the fire and the barn and business were completely flattened within two hours. We were really motivated to forge something positive from it, so we started our own craft rum business.”

Harry says: “To be stocked somewhere like Aldi is a real step change for us. To have that level of recognition from a supermarket buyer and to be stocked on shelves nationwide is the dream.”

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK says: “Katherine and Harry’s rum certainly made an impression on us here at Aldi and we’re excited to be working alongside the team to create the perfect product that we know our customers will love.”
