UN-BUN-LIEVABLE! ALDI’S HOT CROSS BUNS BEAT M&S AND WAITROSE TO BE NAMED BEST IN UK

Bun-tastic! Aldi has beaten seven of the UK’s most popular supermarkets to be awarded consumer champion Which?’s ‘Best Supermarket Hot Cross Buns for 2022’.

In a blind taste test consumers were asked to rate own-label hot cross buns from eight of Britain’s biggest supermarkets, including Tesco, Asda and M&S, with Aldi’s offering being the only hot cross bun impressive enough to be awarded the Best Buy accolade! Which? commented, ‘Aldi’s buns wowed our tasters with their sweet and spicy flavour.’

Not only did Aldi receive top marks for their ‘enticing smell’ and ‘just right texture’, the sweet but spicy luxury fruited buns were also the best for value at just 25p each. Waitrose, whose £1.65 pack of Richly Fruited Hot Cross Buns came bottom of the list, was claimed to be ‘expensive and underwhelming’ by Which?.

Aldi’s award winning Specially Selected Luxury Fruited Hot Cross Buns (£0.99p) are part of the supermarket’s extensive range of hot cross buns for 2022 including new alternative flavours such as the Specially Selected Strawberries and Cream Hot Cross Buns (£1.19, 4 pack) and Specially Selected Cheddar Cheese and Caramelised Onion Hot Cross Bun (£1.19, 4 pack).
