SHOPPERS LAP UP TASTY DIY SUB – LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE OF SUBWAY 

Good news Subway lovers – shoppers can now recreate a delicious Italian BMT Subway sandwich at home using all Aldi ingredients, including this summer’s smash hit product, the Village Bakery Metro Rolls (89p, 4 pack). Recreating the Subway favourite saves shoppers over £2 per sandwich – a whopping 56%!  

Aldi’s Italian sub comes in at £1.47 per sandwich or £5.86 for all ingredients – enough to make four delicious sandwiches, compared to Subway’s £3.49 per 6” Italian BMT. 

Aldi’s sub features the popular Village Bakery Metro Rolls (89p, 4 Pack), Nature’s Pick Iceberg Lettuce (55p each), The Deli Mild Pepperoni Slices (85p, 120g), The Deli Italian Inspired Calabria Ham (£1.09, 90g), Bramwells Peri-peri Mayonnaise (69p, 250ml) and The Deli Salami and Smoked Cheese Selection (£1.79, 145g). 

Shoppers and influencers alike have been urging sub lovers to grab these sandwich essentials while they can, with popular groups such as Extreme Couponing and Bargain Lovers UK (64k followers) claiming they will “never buy Subway again”ⁱ after trialling these cost saving swaps. 

The Metro Rolls, which come in flavours Cheese & Herb, Wholegrain and Italian Style, have turned into a social media sensation after shoppers realised they could make a hefty saving on their favourite sandwich takeaway, spending just 22p per roll.   

The rolls have even taken the TikTok world by storm, with TikTok-ers such as Travel & Budget Shopping UK (44k followers)posting videos urging shoppers to get their hands on themⁱⁱ. 

All Aldi products are available in stores now.
