Aldi Scotland Unveils Protein Packed Recipes for National Fitness Day
Discount supermarket Aldi Scotland has unveiled a selection of healthy nutritional recipes in partnership with personal trainer Fraser Reynolds to mark National Fitness Day (21 September.)
The series includes three protein packed recipes for each meal of the day, accounting for just over 2,000 calories in total.
Perfect for fitness fanatics and those looking to meal prep, the total cost for a full day of healthy eating with Aldi Scotland is just £4.43 for one person.

Breakfast: Breakfast Pizza
Ingredients:
- 2 Scottish Eggs
- 1 Village Bakery Super Soft Original Wrap
- 2 Nature’s Pick Salad Tomatoes
- Handful of Nature’s Pick Baby Spinach
- 1 tsp. of Ready Set Cook Paprika
- 20g Emporium Lighter Mature Cheddar
- 1/2 tsp. salt/pepper
- 5-6 Sprays of Solesta Spray Light Oil
Method:
- Spray a frying pan with the Light Spray Oil
- Place wrap into pan and crack 2 eggs on top
- Chop up tomatoes and spinach and add on top, along with the grated cheese
- Season with salt/pepper and paprika
- Place in the oven at gas mark 4 for 10 mins

Lunch: Chicken Sausage Pasta (serves 4)
Ingredients:
- 10 Ashfield’s Italian Style Chipolatas
- 240g Specially Selected Rigatoni Pasta
- 5-6 Sprays of Solesta Spray Light Oil
- 1/2 tsp. salt/pepper
- 6 Nature’s Pick Tomatoes Sweet Vine Ripened
- 3 cloves of Nature’s Pick Garlic
- Handful of Nature’s Pick Baby Spinach
- 2 Quixo Chicken Stock Cubes
- 120g Emporium Reduced Fat Lighter Soft Cheese
- 125g Everyday Essentials Light Mozzarella
Method:
- Place the chicken sausages under the grill, following instructions on pack.
- Boil a large pan of water and salt.
- Once the water is brought to a boil, add the rigatoni. Cook for 10 minutes.
- Spray a large pan with light spray.
- Chop up tomatoes, garlic and spinach, and add to the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes.
- Add soft cheese, stock cubes and one ladle of pasta water to the pan.
- Chop up cooked sausages and add into the pan.
- Add in cooked rigatoni followed by mozzarella.
- Mix through until mozzarella is melted.
- Serve immediately or pop in boxes for meal prep.

Dinner: Mac ‘n’ Cheese Bolognese (serves 4-5)
Ingredients:
- 500g Nature’s Glen Scotch Lean Steak Mince
- 1 Nature’s Pick Red Onion
- 1 packet of Bramwells Spaghetti Bolognese Seasoning Mix
- 1 tin of Cucina Chopped Tomatoes
- 4 cloves of Nature’s Pick Garlic
- 1 tbsp. Olive Oil
- 150g Emporium Lighter Mature Grated Cheddar
- 220g Cucina Macaroni
- 600ml Scottish Skimmed Milk
- 1 Nature’s Pick Carrot
- 1 tbsp. of Ready Set Cook Oregano
- 1 tsp. salt/pepper
Method:
- Chop up your garlic and vegetables
- Add 1 tbsp. oil to a large pan
- Add in your chopped onion and carrot. Cook for 5-6 minutes
- Place your milk into a large pot and bring to the boil.
- Add in your garlic, lean steak mince and salt/pepper. Cook until browned.
- Place your macaroni into the boiling milk and continue to stir until almost evaporated and the macaroni is fully cooked.
- Add Spaghetti Bolognese Seasoning Mix, chopped tomatoes and oregano into the pan.
- For the macaroni, turn the heat off and add 100g of the light cheese in – mix well until cheese is melted, then add the pepper.
- Place Bolognese mixture into an oven proof dish.
- Add your mac n cheese and the remaining 50g cheese on top.
- Place in the oven on high heat for 8-10 minutes.
- Serve immediately or place into meal prep containers.
