ALDI SET TO BE CHIEFTAIN O’ THE PUDDIN’ RACE WITH BURNS NIGHT RANGE FROM JUST 99P

To help Scot’s mark one of the most celebrated days in the calendar, Aldi Scotland has unveiled its Burns Night Specialbuy range, which includes Macaulay’s haggis for just 99p.

Available at all 102 Scottish stores from 13th January, Scots are guaranteed unbeatable bargains on all essential food and drink in honour of the country’s foremost poet.

Those looking for quality products at a fraction of the price will not be disappointed as Aldi Scotland’s everyday haggis range has both the traditional fare and a vegetarian option available for only 99p (offer available 13th – 25th Jan). While Simon Howie’s Gluten Free Haggis makes sure no one is left out of the fun for just £1.99.

The supermarket, which was awarded Multiple Fruit and Vegetable Retailer of the Year 2021 by the Fresh Produce Consortium, will also be launching an exclusive Burns Supper Super Six veg offering, complete with tatties, neeps and all the trimmings supplied by local producers from just 35p.

Customers looking for the perfect centrepiece to their Burns Night celebrations, can pick up a Specially Selected Chieftain Haggis for only £2.99 and no celebration would be complete without ‘tak’ing a cup of kindness’ and with multi award-winning Glen Marnoch 12 year-old Speyside Single Malt reduced to just £17.99 (offer available 13th – 25th Jan) Aldi has all the essentials covered.

ALDI STORE COLLEAGUES IN ABERDEEN TO RECEIVE PAY RISE FROM SEPTEMBER

Aldi is giving store colleagues in Aberdeen a pay increase for the second time this year, maintaining its position as the UK’s best-paying supermarket. 

From September, all hourly paid colleagues at its Aberdeen stores will receive an increase of 40p an hour on their current hourly rate, taking Aldi’s minimum pay rates for Store Assistants to a sector-leading £10.50 an hour nationally and £11.95 for those inside the M25. 

Aldi also remains the only supermarket to offer paid breaks, which for the average store colleague is now worth more than £830 a year. 

The new rates far exceed the Living Wage Foundation’s recommended real living wage of £9.90 an hour nationally and £11.05 inside the M25. 

Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “Our new rates of pay maintain Aldi’s position as the UK’s highest paying supermarket.  

“This announcement recognises the amazing contribution our colleagues make in serving the local communities in Aberdeen. Their outstanding efforts have ensured that our customers continue to have access to fresh affordable food, every single day.” 

Aldi is the UK’s fifth-largest supermarket and has more than 970 stores across Britain.

In 2021, Aldi invested £36 million in six new stores, opening its 100th Scottish store at Hermiston Gait in Edinburgh in November. Aldi recently unveiled plans to invest over £55 million from 2022-2023 as part of their ongoing commitment to Scotland, with a further nine stores planned to open.

Aldi remains committed to its CSR programmes. The retailer’s Supermarket Sweep initiative will continue to offer support and funding to local foodbanks in 2022. The Scottish Sports Fund programme, which was launched in 2016 with hopes of making sport accessible across Scotland, will also continue. Through the fund, Aldi has donated £290,000 to over 500 local sports.

  • Aldi has a ten-year partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust – Aldi recently achieved its fundraising milestone of £6m ahead of its five-year target, which will go towards helping the trust to reach out to every young person with cancer in the UK. Aldi has also now committed to extending the TCT partnership for a further five years with a commitment to donate an additional £5m over this period.  
  • Aldi’s rates of pay are significantly higher than the Government’s National Living Wage and also above the Living Wage Foundation’s recommended national rates. Store Assistants receive a minimum hourly rate of £10.10 nationally and £11.55 within the M25.    
  • Aldi is the official supermarket partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB ensuring every member of the team has access to fresh healthy Aldi food via monthly shopping vouchers, with two million 5-14-year-olds already learning about the benefits of cooking fresh, healthy food via its Get Set to Eat Fresh education initiative. Aldi has been a partner since 2015 and has extended its commitment to 2025, including the 2022 Winter Olympic games in Beijing and 2024 Summer Olympic games in Paris.  
  • Aldi has announced plans to increase the amount of food and drink it buys from British suppliers by £3.5bn a year by the end of 2025 as it continues its rapid expansion across the UK.  
  • Aldi works with Community engagement platform Neighbourly to help combat hunger’s devastating effects, as it continues to fight against child food poverty as no child should ever go hungry.

LOCH LOMOND BREWERY SELECTED AS ONE OF JUST TWELVE BRANDS TO REPRESENT SCOTLAND IN THIS YEAR’S ALDI BEER FESTIVAL

-- Aldi Scotland champions local beer makers during its Summer Beer Festival with a line-up featuring Loch Lomond Brewery--  

Aldi Scotland is celebrating its 27th Scottish Summer Beer Festival this July and is championing local independent brewers from across Scotland. This year, Dunbartonshire’s very own flagship brewer, Loch Lomond Brewery, is being featured as one of just twelve brands to make their way to the retailers' shelves this summer.  

The brewer, established in Luss, near Loch Lomond, is launching two exclusive brews with the retailer this year; Cuban Heels Pale Ale (£1.79) which is a delicate sour beer with hints of strawberry and lime, and Slave to the Rhythm (£1.79), a hoppy beer with extra oats for a smooth creamy finish. Both beers will be hitting the shelves of 103 Aldi stores across Scotland from the 28 July.   

Loch Lomond Brewery has a long-standing relationship with Aldi Scotland and has been supplying the stores with brews since 2013, and throughout the nine-year relationship has launched 14 exclusive beers with the discount retailer.
