Rosé season is officially here – and ahead of International Rosé Day (27^th June), Aldi and Mistress of Wine, Sam Caporn, are showing shoppers how to take their glass of pink to the next level with one simple trick: strawberries.

Shoppers have heard of peppercorns in their gin and jalapeño in their wine – but few realise that the easiest way to elevate a glass of rosé this summer is already in the fridge. Whether muddled into a spritz or simply sliced into your glass, strawberries pair perfectly with the juicy red fruit notes found in rosé, giving your serve a summery twist.

Sam Caporn, Aldi’s Wine Expert, says: “Popping a strawberry or two into a glass of rosé is a simple but effective way to enhance the red berry notes found in so many popular rosés. This works in just the same way as adding cucumber or mint to a G&T – a classic, foolproof pairing.

“Aroma is as important as taste, as the two combine to create flavour. A strawberry helps bring out those juicy red fruit notes beautifully.

“If you like your rosé on ice – known as a ‘rosé piscine’ – try freezing strawberry slices in ice cubes. It keeps your wine chilled and looks gorgeous too.”

Aldi’s latest rosé line-up includes modern, fruit-forward bottles from lesser-known regions, including Bulgaria, Spain and Austria – all chosen for their refreshingly crisp style and crowd-pleasing appeal.
