IT’S A HAT TRICK – ALDI CROWNED THE UK’S CHEAPEST SUPERMARKET FOR THIRD YEAR IN A ROW

10 January, 2024

  • Which? names Aldi UK’s Cheapest Supermarket for the third consecutive year
  • The supermarket was also named the Cheapest Supermarket of the month for December, its eleventh win in 2023

Consumer group Which? has named Aldi the Cheapest Supermarket of the Year for 2023, after conducting its annual price comparison of UK supermarkets.  Aldi was also named the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket of the Month for December.

Having also won the accolade in 2022 and in 2021, as well as being named the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket a record eleven times in 2023, it will come as no surprise to its customers that Aldi was once more revealed as the retailer that will save shoppers the most money on their weekly shop.

Looking at the price of groceries and everyday household essentials such as bread, milk and eggs, the latest annual survey from Which? has found that Aldi is officially the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be named the Cheapest Supermarket of the Year for a third year running. We are committed to providing shoppers with the best quality products at the lowest prices and it’s great to have that officially recognised by a highly respected consumer champion, such as Which?.

“As we head into 2024, our promise to our customers remains the same – they will always get the UK’s lowest prices at Aldi.”

In December, Which? found Aldi to be a whopping £20 cheaper than the most expensive supermarket, Waitrose and £10 cheaper than both Tesco and Sainsbury’s.
