ALDI CALLS ON A-LEVEL STUDENTS TO GET IN TOUCH

As A-level students prepare to receive their results today, Aldi has revealed it is looking to recruit 250 new apprentices between now and the end of the year.

The UK’s fourth largest supermarket is encouraging young people to get in touch to find out more about these roles, with opportunities across stores, warehouses, and HGV driver roles.

At Aldi, a Store Apprentice can earn £8.44 per hour in year one, a £1.74 rise to £10.18 in year two, rising to £11.83 per hour in year three.

Successful applicants on the programme will have the chance to gain industry-recognised qualifications while they earn and will also be eligible for a number of additional benefits, including paid breaks, discounted cinema tickets, bike to work scheme and money off holidays.

Aldi, which currently has more than 1,020 stores across the UK, also recently announced that it is set to create a further 1,000 new store roles across the UK between now and the end of the year.

Kelly Stokes, Recruitment Director at Aldi UK, said: “With thousands of students across the country opening their results today, we’d encourage everyone to check out the wide range of roles we have on offer.

“Whether you know exactly what you want to do next, or you have no idea where to start, we’re on the lookout for talented young people like you to join our amazing teams across the UK.

“As we continue to open stores in new areas, it’s a really exciting time to join us on our mission to become the nation’s favourite place to shop and work.”

In March, Aldi announced its second pay increase for store colleagues this year, taking the supermarket’s investment in pay this year to £79m.

Starting pay for Store Assistants at Aldi is £12.40 per hour nationally, rising to £13.35 per hour, and £13.65 per hour inside the M25, rising to £13.95 per hour.

Aldi continues to offer the best hourly rates in the sector and remains the only supermarket to provide paid breaks, which is worth more than £900 a year for the average Store Assistant.

The supermarket is opening an average of one new store a week between now and Christmas, with new stores in Plymouth, Leeds and London among the next to open in the coming weeks.
