AVOID THE ENERGY PRICE INCREASE! Aldi shoppers EXEMPT from impending £149 energy price increase

5 September, 2024

  • Brits could save up to £30 by switching to Aldi – enough to cover the average household bills increase of £12.42 per month
  • The latest research from consumer group Which? has revealed Aldi is the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket for August

With energy bills set to rise by 10%, equivalent to £149 when the new price cap is introduced next month, families up and down the country will be looking for ways to cut everyday spending in order to account for this cost. Thankfully, as revealed by consumer champions Which? this week, shoppers can beat the energy price increase thanks to supermarket Aldi.

Researchby consumer group Which? has found that shoppers could save £30.31 each week by switching from Waitrose to Aldi last month[1] – and with the average energy bill due to rise by £12.41 per month for most households, this saving will more than cover the difference and make those switching to Aldi exempt from feeling the effects of the energy price hike.

Those who thought they might be getting a good deal when they use their Nectar or Clubcard are still better off shopping at Aldi — even when loyalty cards are used.

Consumer group Which? included loyalty prices in its monthly Cheapest Supermarket price comparison, looking at the cost of groceries and household essentials. The results showed Sainsbury’s to be £19.05 more expensive, while Tesco was £13.04 dearer, solidifying the message that the only place to get Aldi prices is at Aldi.

The full results are below:

RetailerAverage price for 65 items
Aldi£110.58
Lidl with Lidl Plus£111.88

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “We’ve always promised our customers that we will never be beaten on price, and when looking at the Which? analysis, the results speak for themselves. Our ongoing commitment to providing shoppers with the very best, for less clearly shines through when customers see how much money they can save simply by switching to Aldi. Families can enjoy good quality food without breaking the bank thanks to Aldi – and that these savings are a real help for those who will be feeling the pinch next month.”

ALDI IS LOOKING FOR PARENTS TO JOIN NEW PANEL – WITH UP TO £400 IN SHOPPING VOUCHERS UP FOR GRABS

18 March, 2026

Aldi has today announced it is on the lookout for 10 parents from across the UK to join its new Aldi Parent Panel – offering families the chance to bag up to £400 in shopping vouchers and free products, in return for their valuable input into future family focused products and initiatives.

Aldi, who was recently named as Supermarket of the Year at the 2026 Loved By Parents Awards, is inviting parents of children ranging from babies through to teenagers to apply, with successful applicants reflecting the diversity of family life across the UK.

Those selected will be asked to take part in short surveys and product reviews at key points throughout the year, helping to inform Aldi’s family-focused initiatives and wider customer experience. In return, parents will receive £100 in Aldi vouchers every time they complete a survey, alongside free Mamia products and selected Specialbuys.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Families rely on Aldi every day, and it’s important that we continue to listen to what really matters to them. The Aldi Parent Panel gives parents from across the UK the opportunity to play a role in shaping how we support families - from the products we offer to the experience we provide in-store and beyond.

“We want the panel to reflect families of all shapes, sizes and experiences, so we can continue delivering the quality and value Aldi is known for.”

Parents who would like to apply to join the Aldi Parent Panel are invited to submit either a short written application (up to 200 words) or a short video explaining why they would like to take part. Applications should be sent to aldiparentpanel@aldi.co.uk by Wednesday 15th April 2026.
